Orchestra: We will be cruising the Rias of Galicia during the summer 2017. We require two deckhands who will have at least one years experience crewing on a yacht. Duties will include:- sailing the yacht, looking after guests, maintenance, cleaning, operating a RIB, navigation, watch duty, and all matters involving the safe operation a yacht at sea.
We use the yacht to entertain friends and family. We do not charter
These positions may well suit an older experienced person or a young person wanting to gain experience and do some mile building. We will consider all applicants.
All travel expenses to and from the yacht are paid for (subject to prior agreement). All food and drinks (within reason) are provided together with crew uniform. A small living allowance will be paid. Please note, this is not a 'professional' position paying big money. It is more about enjoying and sharing a beautiful yacht on her summer cruise. But work is involved so it is not a 'jolly'. There will be lots of free time once we commence the cruise. However there will be much to do preparing the yacht prior to departure and this will involve many full days of work.

Alvei7+:
July 2016

Hello

We have been sailing Alvei throughout the world’s oceans from 1995 to the present. We have logged over 200,000 sea miles and stood watch with over 500 crew. Now and again it becomes time to put Alvei away and do something different. This is one of those times. We will return to New Zealand and Alvei in November 2016.

In the meantime we are looking for a few new volunteers to join the crew. We are usually about a dozen, averaging about six men and women each. We don’t plan it that way, it just works that way. The average age is twenty to thirty-something with a scattering of people in their forties to sixties. Volunteers also join us from all over the world. In fact, we’ve had as many as15 people from 13 different nationalities on one crew alone.

We have three categories of volunteer crew, short-term, medium-term and long-term. On the average about a third of volunteers are 3 weeks to 2 months, another third 3 to 4 months and another third 1-2 years. Once a person accumulates one year of service (either continuously or several shorter stints) they are eligible to sail on Alvei at any time, free of charge. Preference is given to longer term crew.

Long-Term Volunteer Crew Anyone wanting to learn the way of a tall ship sailor would do well to sign on for a year or more. Sea Time will be officially documented and applied toward earning sea time credit towards certification. Once booked, many have pursued lifelong careers at sea based on their experience on Alvei.

Medium-Term Volunteer Crew Many people, who find their way to us through Crewbay.com, tend to be keen on tall ship sailing and stay between 3 to 4 months. This is also a good option for gap year studies or retirees who have family or other commitments back home. Many return for successive seasons.

Short-Term Volunteer Crew This option is available for the average backpacker or similar traveller looking for the next island adventure. The typical stay is between 2 weeks and 2 months while sailing interisland in the tropics.

Both long and medium-term crew can include an approximate 4 to 5 week open ocean voyage to or from New Zealand.

2017 Itinerary
• November and December mark the last two months of our 2016 season. This is a good time for potential watch leaders to join the crew and gain hands-on learning/teaching experience guiding and directing less experienced crew. We are looking for potential watch leaders here.

• After the Christmas holidays we continue welcoming new crew and finish maintenance projects such as bulwark repair and painting, tarring the rig, sail repair and caulking the deck.

• Training begins in earnest in early March with lessons on sail and line handling, steering, lookout, watch standing and galley maintenance. We will need a solid 4 weeks of work, from all the volunteers, to prepare for sea. All crew should plan on being on board no later than March 1st.

• We set sail in April for the southwest Pacific islands. Specific destinations are yet to be determined as we generally choose where to go and what to do based on where we are needed most. Possible destinations may include islands from Tahiti, through the Cook Islands, Tonga, Fiji and Vanuatu.

• In October, we’re bound for Brisbane, Australia for our regular haul-out maintenance. This is 3 weeks of intense but rewarding work, scrubbing the bottom, replacing zincs and painting. This becomes an intense work time with a blow-out party at the end. There is no daily rate charge during the haul out time.

• Then it’s back home to New Zealand for the summer maintenance season.

No one is required to perform jobs they are not comfortable with, such as working aloft. We can accommodate up to17 volunteer crew.

It requires knowledge, experience, time and practice to learn the way of the sea.
Patience and a resilient sense of humour help when mastering the sometimes unexpected events of the day or night. Learning can be gained from reading books by working with your shipmates.

Along with that it can become a time of reward and accomplishment. You will learn things you didn’t expect to learn. (That is where the sense of humour part comes in handy.) And you will definitely have many stories to tell along the way.

Sail Cargo Expedition - Honduras to Azores

Crew wanted: Delivery Crew
Vessel: Tall Ship
Size:44 m
Location: Honduras
Destination: Portugal
Logged in: 47 minutes ago

Timbercoast: We provide wind-powered cargo shipping. Our 1920’s schooner AVONTUUR is sailing in European and Caribbean waters as a tramp cargo service. The AVONTUUR is the missing link between the sustainable producer and the conscientious consumer. The statistics are clear, the current 90,000 plus container ships are destroying our oceans and spewing toxins into our atmosphere. In order for this global dependency to change we believe there must be a collaborative and viable alternative solution.

There is a shared cost to this voyage which includes chef cooked meals, port dues and harbour costs. There's the opportunity to sail onward from Honduras to Germany. Inquire within.

Embark January 30th in Puerto Cortes, Honduras*
Disembark March 16th in Horta, Azores

*Weather dependant

Sailing the Peloponnese coast,Saronics & Cyclades from May- October 2017...

twizzr: .

Come sailing the Peloponnese Saronic ,Cyclades with a chance of the Dodecanese. On a comfortable fast older style yacht that I have owned for 20 years .The boat can sleeps up to nine with two heads/showers . I am based in Greece, with easy access from Airport and Piraeus on ferry or flying dolphin.
.
Now that my wife and children no longer want to sail as much. I find myself with weeks free and was thinking of having 1'-2 or 3 people to join me for, one, two or three weeks at a time or longer if compatible ?.But no more than 4 at any time. Single women welcome but no romance wanted
.
Please note. I do not need crew to deliver the yacht to another place, as I have single handed sailed for years The yacht has been set up by me for single hand sailing that some will find different
This is more an opportunity for people to have an enjoyable holiday at the same time as sailing, or get more miles and experience at a fraction of the cost of chartering their own yacht .

Contributions 30 euro pd pp single cabin 25euro pd sharing ... there is a small cabin with cupboard and up and down berths for budget saling '20euro pd pp See Photos .......................................................................................................................................

There would be a additional cost for on board meals and diesel, port fees, laundry cleaning product, consumables etc: of around 10 euro pp pd .. . .................................................. This will not include shore based meals and drinks which are paid for by the person eating/drinking them.............. ( I have been know to steal some chips and buy a litre of wine )

As Skipper would be in charge of the day to day running of the yacht, however I would like all crew to have as much fun as possible whilst aboard . Managing day to day running of a yacht , provisioning, passage planning, weather forecasting ,anchoring. stern to mooring ,keeping the ship tidy, this would be a large part of this trip , rather than just sunbath.lol . A golden opportunity to enjoy sailing the Aegean in a relaxing manner, combining sight seeing the islands .....

Friends /crew
That would like sailing and have fun at the same time as making new friends, visiting new places. on an adventure aboard a sailing yacht around the Greek islands ..Any age/sex 30+, must be Financially sound and NON SMOKER............ NOT looking for any romance OR FREELOADERs..!

Most days on the water we will sail 20-60 miles and at the same time having a bit of fun fishing, snorkeling, swimming, dolphin and whale spotting and only drinking when tied up safe in port. (a very cold beer with lunch) otherwise a dry ship at sea, with ZERO tolerance for drugs..

I dont think I have hidden anything ? and want to be completely OPEN about things on board .

Note. As Skipper i will try and accommodate all ideas and suggestions on board, but my word will be final. ..Santorini at the height of the Meltemi will be low on the list of priorities.unless using the ferry from Naxos or Ios .

Please remember this is not a Hire, Charter or School boat , you will be my personal internet friends and guests on board, as I would like good company when sailing .

I shall advise you to have your own Travel/accident insurance for the duration of your time in Greece/Turkey The yacht is insured.however this request is for your personal safety for your time on board and when away from the yacht. This is important ! .......................................................................................................................................
By you responding to this opportunity, I will understand you accept these terms .

pps sometimes I have a small friendly dog on board,

Cheers bob

Petroleum (earth's blood), Gasoline and all the chemical additives are Toxic and unhealthy to use and support Even the govt and the oil cartels admit this on labels and documents! If you CARE you will find a way to move away from it and support HHO or electricity from wind/geothermal etc. Clean energy is the good way to follow.
