NathanSmith: I am seeking a Chief Engineer/Stewardess position with my partner, Sabrina Engelhorn aboard a motor or sail yacht. I'm also considering a singles position aboard a yacht which is primarily based in one port throughout the year.

I have extensive knowledge in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, audio/video, IT, and steam systems, gained through my 13 years of experience as a licensed marine engineer. I have been responsible for several makes and models of engines used for vessel propulsion, generators and tenders, (CAT, M.A.N., Ruston, B&W, Sulzer, Doxford, G.E., Yamaha, Mercury, Volvo Penta). I am a hands-on worker and will put all my effort into solving problems. I have overseen five shipyard periods and several Loyds, Transport Canada, Canadian Coast Guard, MCA, and company management, surveys/audits. I have experienced many emergency situations, such as, steering gear failure, main engine electronic control system failure, variable pitch propeller failure, and fires, taking part to solving all and avoiding disaster. One of the hardest that I've had to solve was determining what was causing a major fault in the main engines ECS. I traced the problem to a faulty micro processor.

I believe in continual education, taking my free time to study and increase my knowledge of the yachting industry and my field of expertise.

I have been successfully working aboard the M/Y Cyan as Chief Engineer since March 2009. I'm the only Engineer and responsible for maintaining all systems (2 main engines, 3 generators, 3 tenders, 2 jet skies, 2 sea-bobs, zero-speed stabilizers, the latest IT/AV system, 3 hydraulic power units, 5 A/C units, 3 refrigeration units and many other auxiliary systems). I also gladly help out in other departments, folding laundry, vacuuming, mopping, serving guests, washing down the boat, launching the tender, plus more.
