MattVLC: Hello everybody!
I have started sailing in the Mediterranean several years ago and have expanded my sailing range steadily, last year I participated as competent crew in the Atlantic Gateway Rally in the Gibraltar-Lanzarote leg.
I love the atmosphere and experience on sailing boats, as well as the people I meet. Now my next goal is to cross the Atlantic Ocean. I am easy-going, love to cook, speak several languages and adapt well to new situations. If you are planning a trip across the Atlantic and need a crew with experience, I would be delighted to hear from you.

Looking to learn through experience!

Position (1st): Friendship/Relationship
Position (2nd): Amateur crew
Age: 28
Nationality: American
Location: Puerto Rico

Horatio51: I am currently in Puerto Rico and developing a desire to learn about sailing or cruising. Interested in anything you can educate or mentor me on weather it be in the marina or at sea. I have very little knowledge onboard but am willing to do cleaning, maintenance, watch or anything I can in exchange for knowledge! I also have a budget for any certifications you prefer me to acquire. I am probably as new as they come but am hopeful to find guidance!
I have a budget for expenses and can pay my way. I also have a 2 bedroom house on the coast if there's ever a need due to maintenances or weather to stay ashore if you're in the area. I'm sure I'm leaving out a lot but I can correspond promptly to any questions..

cbthediver: I'm in Bimini, Bahamas right now (Dec 2016) and ready to continue the adventure of my life!! I can tie a bowline & have helped clean the hull. I have been a happy, smiling crew member:

Boat #1- 38' monohull with extreme power & water conservation. This boat came with a captain who spoke limited English creating a difficult situation, don't want to repeat that. Still enjoyed being on the water. Traveled from Brunswick, GA to and around the Abacos, Bahamas.

Boat #2- 43' monohull with moderate power & water conservation. This boat came with a happy captain & his lovely wife, both good teachers. Traveled in & around the Abacos & Eleuthera, Bahamas.

Boat #3- 44' cat with moderate power & water conservation. Good captain who taught me many things & enjoyed the journey. Traveled & explored Abacos to Eleuthera to the Exumas, Bahamas.

Boat #4- a 50' monohull with moderate power & water conservation. Excellent captain & his gracious wife, both knowledgeable & excellent teachers. Spent time with them in the marina learning maintenance, rope splicing, etc.

On boats 1-3 helped provision, took watches, docking, anchoring, handled lines, helped with sails, cleaned, cooked, fix-it projects, drove the dinghy (and yes, I can get into the dinghy in open water) and was a smiling crew member. How can you be unhappy when you get to see the beautiful water everyday?? I'm a retired SSI Scuba Instructor. I love teaching & learning & am an expert seamstress. If you have the sewing machine I can restitch bimini/dodgers, make cushions, etc. I'm looking for an easy going captain who is willing to teach me more about sailing and/or living on the ocean. I love to explore, hike, snorkel, kayak, dive, relax, read a book, plan routes and watch the sunsets. I also enjoy a good game of cribbage, dominoes, etc. I enjoy a cocktail on occasion, but can live without easily. A stimulating conversation is a pleasure as is quiet time to myself. Born and raised in South Dakota, I know how to work hard & play hard. I have the world to discover and time to do it!

I grew up and lived in South Dakota all my life but have always loved the water. At the end of last year (2015) I quit my job, sold my house and gave away most of my stuff. Since then I have lived on/helped crew boats from Brunswick, GA (ICW and off shore) to the Bahamas and have finally found the place I really want to be - ON THE WATER. Being IN the water is a close second desire! Sailing, trawler or power boats, I love them all. The Bahamas and Caribbean are beautiful. Being a scuba diver with over 400 dives the entire Caribbean has been a favorite of mine and will continue to be but the South Pacific is calling my name. I am up for the adventure!! If I find one special person to share it with it would be great but not necessary to enjoy the ocean and all it has to offer. Please consider me for crew on your boat and to share your adventures.

Cres: Easy-going non-expert sailor enjoys the cruising life. Spent two wonderful carefree months in the summer of 2016 cruising the Greek Islands on a 42 foot Beneteau, eager to resume life on the water. Native Californian, able-bodied 59 years young woman, leans liberal (I did not vote for HIM but offer my apologies to the world).

My particulars:
Willing to take orders from skipper and gets along quite well in small groups.
Grew up on water, self-taught on Sunfish and FJs. Some formal sailing lessons and light experience race crewing 40 footers on San Francisco Bay.
Former scuba diver with over 250 dives, mostly from 5-12 day liveaboard boat trips in Indonesia, Fiji, Thailand & Palau. Land-based diving in Caribbean, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Costa Rica & Hawaii. Traveled extensively in Europe.
Executive Assistant by profession; good communication and logistical skills.
Good cook; clean, tidy and well-organized by nature but not fanatical. Speak some Spanish.
Friendship foremost but open to romance (long-term, not a fling) if the chemistry and values match. Ideal would be experienced retired gentleman with suitable sailboat (catamaran?) who wants to explore the world.
