CaptainCorbett: Ever since I can remember, I have been going out on boats. My grandfather and father both had motor yachts on the south coast of England and my mother sailed Flying Fifteens. I learned to sail at school on Enterprise dinghies and then eventually attained my Yachtmaster Sail in 2000 when I was working for Hamble School of Yachting on the Hamble.
Next, I converted to power and joined Sealine Sea School (wholly owned by British motor yacht manufacturer Sealine International Limited). By 2003 I had my instructors ticket, my SRC assessors qualification and I had taken over as Principal of Sealine Sea School.
Over the next 10 years, I ran the sea school and also acted as company captain for Sealine. It was a hugely varied role; delivering boats, handing over new boats to customers, PDI (pre-delivery inspection testing, new model testing, demonstrations to the press and liaising with the different departments (manufacturing, PR, marketing, sales, etc) to pass on information regarding the product and the customer's reaction to our product.
Sadly, in 2013 the company went into administration and I became unemployed. So naturally, I started working on a freelance basis. I am now living on the island of Jersey in the Channel Islands and married to a beautiful Jersey girl. In 2015, I ran a 23m Elegance which was based in Salerno, Italy. This was a private boat, never chartered. However, the owner decided to sell the boat at the beginning of 2016 and has not replaced it yet.
Unfortunately, work is a little thin on the ground this winter, so I've had to take an office job to make ends meet. Now I need to get back out onto the water, back to where I am happiest.
