canadiannovice: I have sailed a 16 foot catamarand on the lakes here in canada but have no ocean sailing experience. I have been on yachts from california to Puerto Vallarta as a guest so I am easy on the water and able to do the work required with guidence. I am almost retired and can come to any location to meet the boat and would ideally enjoy someone that can teach me the ropes, has patients with me and can get me comfortable in all areas of sailing. I am a non smoker, social drinker (not much) and very easy going. I do not need much to be happy other than good people around me. My background is a OR nurse so my medical skills may come in handy for sewing up sails or people. Thank you and hope to enjoy the waters soon

Jasmineam: Hello, my name is Jasmine

I am a paediatrician with a deep passion for my work. I divide my professional time between the NHS and humanitarian missions (most recently in Sudan and Iraq). I am still ,perhaps, a child at heart. I love to learn and explore. I have a great curiosity and wonder for the world. One of the things I enjoy both about my work and sailing is the privilege to meet people in all walks of life.

I started sailing 4 years ago (so still relatively amateur) but It felt as something just 'slotted into place'. For a time I both lived aboard, renovated and sailed a 45ft Thames sailing barge on the Essex Coast. I have crewed for a number of friends aboard boats large and small, new and old. I also volunteer as a medic for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. I am relaxed, positive, adaptable and understand the requirements of small space boat living. I also am pretty good at staying calm in stressful situations.

I have a wish to spend more of my 'off mission' time exploring the world. My ideal scenario would be to spend several months at a time travelling by sea. I hope that with cumulative sailing experience I might be confident enough to solo sail one day, but that is a way off yet. Whilst traditional vessels (blocks, tackles and cleats, and tiller steering) are my favourites and I am open to all the possibilities.

Joeflagstaff: Greetings! I am a long-time dinghy sailor and owner of a 9m keelboat who would like to find an opportunity for mile building and cruising in Europe for the summer of 2015. I have excellent emergency skills and I can adapt to near any social situation. I have a coastal cruising certification from the American Sailing Association and I'm always keen to learn more.

I would be happy to contribute unpaid labor to ready a boat for sailing and to make sure we get along before setting off. I'll be in France from 5 July, 2015 until 15 October.

Thanks for considering me.

Emergency Medical Technician with sailing skills

GermanEMT: Hey guys,
I am Nikki, 31 years old, from Mannheim/Germany. I studied business administration, international law and politics in Munich, Mannheim and Austin/TX. Beside, I have been working as an emergency medical technician with the German Red Cross for five years now. Emergency medical care is my passion. Before, I was a first lieutnant with the German army (airborne) for about eigth years.

I am pretty grounded, easy going and handsome, like cooking, taking photographs and discover beautiful places.

Holding some sailing certificates:
- the German Sportbootführerschein Binnen (for all inland waterways),
- the Sportbootführerschein See (which is the officially prescribed licence for all sailing outside the areas of inland waters) and
- the Sportküstenschifferschein (which is the "improvement" of the SBF See and is usually asked by the charter providers, because it proves the handling with the sailing yacht).

I would be glad to get the chance to improve my sailing skills, getting to know interesting people and places and have a good time!

Do not hesitate to contact me!

Best regards,

EpicAdventureGuy: Hey-O! How’s it? I’m Justin, a.k.a. “Juice”, the Epic Adventure Guy—a full-time adventurist, musician, trauma nurse, entrepreneur, and crazy-free-spirited-goofy-weirdo. I absolutely love seeing people smile, sharing laughs, and journeying through life together. When inevitably the hilarious craziness ensues, I giggle because it’s the trip of a lifetime. Fittingly, I'm always up for anything: hiking, diving, flying, surfing, camping, biking, sailing, dancing, and laughing (just to name a few) and I also enjoy playing music, hosting, cooking, mission projects, and organizing adventure groups. I hope that you are smiling and having good times right now, wherever you may be.

Why I’m on CrewBay:
I have felt the ocean beckoning me ever more strongly to embark upon a sailing adventure. Although I have always been around the ocean, I have little experience on boats and have only day-sailed twice with a group. In Honolulu, Hawaii I lived aboard a mono-hull sailboat in her slip for a month and LOVED it! My favorite way to learn is by immersion, but don’t worry, I don’t scare easy, rather I’m always excited for a challenge. If I do not already possess the skill, I am a quick and fearless student. I would love to join your project as long as there is a promise to have fun, learn from each other, work hard, and laugh a lot.

Teach, Learn, Share:
Sharing life with each other is what makes traveling fun and interesting, as it offers numerous opportunities for learning, teaching, expanding one's mind, and helping others. As necessary, I work to live and also enjoy volunteering for projects and missions. I am currently a Trauma Nurse in the USA, but some of my previous job titles include musician and entertainer, construction contractor, retail salesman, music instructor, museum tour guide, and short order chef (to name a few).

CrewBay is a great way to connect with individuals and experience the local culture and way of life. Some individuals, like myself, have a heightened wanderlust compulsion and embark on long-term travel to learn about the world and its inhabitants. Unlike aimless meanderings, wanderlust travel encourages the adventurist to connect with the places, people, and cultures on a personal level so that the traveler can discover and create himself or herself. We impact everything we touch and should strive to leave the places and people more uplifted with positive energy than before our contact.

Music, Movies, and Books:
Reading a great book is one of my favorite ways to relax at the end of a busy day. When traveling full-time, space and weight become valuable commodities so I only bring one fiction and one nonfiction book with me at a time and exchange them for new ones once I’ve finished them. I am always open to new recommendations for books I have not yet read :) My recent companions have been: ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho, ‘The complete short stories of Mark Twain’ by Mark Twain, ‘The 4-Hour Workweek’ by Timothy Ferris, ‘Just So Stories’ by Rudyard Kipling, 'Dune' by Frank Herbert, and ‘Tools of Titans’ by Timothy Ferris; all of which I highly recommend :P
The only movie I travel with: 'View from a Blue Moon' with John Florence
At the risk of sounding cliché, I really do enjoy all genres of music. You can check out my current vibes on Spotify at: withouttimethereisnomusic

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done:
Climbed the Stairway to Heaven (Haiku Stairs)

What I Can Share with Hosts:
My absolute favorite things to share with hosts are smiles, stories, and laughs! Additionally, I enjoy participating in projects and am always eager to lend a hand; utilizing a skill I possess or learning a new one. Refer to Resume. Good food makes any occasion better and I am not shy in the kitchen when it comes to cooking, cleaning, and eating :P

Sending good vibes and positive energy your way while wishing you happy travels and a safe journey!
All the best,

MaximeA: Hello,

My name is Max and I am a 24 year old Belgian guy. I recently graduated from university as a nurse. Before starting a professional career, I'm looking for new adventures and experiences. I'm a social and respectful person who likes new things and getting to know new people. I'm athletic and play rugby and football. I also trained in swimming for seven years and have basic surfing skills.

I have several experiences traveling including northern and central Africa, Europe, and hiking in Estonia. In addition, I have held student jobs working in a kitchen, babysitting, and in home care nursing. I am living in Las Palmas in order to learn the Spanish language.

Through this website, I hope to find an experience that will enrich me with both knowledge and new experiences!
