Aila

sailor with passion

Position (1st): Competent Crew
Position (2nd): Racing Crew
Age: 45
Nationality: german
Location: Saint Lucia

Aila: From the beginning I am in love with the sea and with traveling. I discovered my passion for sailing and life on the boat late. Over four years ago, came the opportunity to mix my professional hospitality background with sailing in the Caribbean. I sailed mostly as stewardess/deckhand and lived on the boat. I did charters and successfully participated in regattas. I realized I have the required skills, and completed all the certificates. With skills, certifications and extensive experience in hospitality, I now seek to apply as a Chief Stewardess.
In addition to several seasons in the Caribbean, I spent last season in the Mediterranean. My captain is very happy with me but I can’t sit idle until the next season starts in the Med, and I could go back to my previous captain, but I´m looking for a longer term position (at least six months).
I am easy to get along with and appear relaxed, but have lots of stamina to work! Also I always try to do all the tasks with perfection. I´ve had a lot of different jobs before, and lastly I was a senior manager, but the life aboard just grabbed me and that´s what I´d like to do as long as I can and along I get any job. Through my previous jobs, e.g. in restaurants, hotels, offices, I gained a lot of experience dealing with VIP guests and provide excellent service. I have over 8 years’ experience and training in high end hotel and restaurant industries and am well-qualified to perform all of your specified requirements.
As a professional in hospitality, I understand that first-rate customer service is paramount and I am dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction. I possess knowledge and maturity, high motivation and am a positive and hard-working person. I am not uncomfortable working long hours and am willing to assist the rest of the service crew to ensure exceptional guest and crew experiences. Through my job as a senior manager, I was also responsible for the training of new employees, and gained very good leadership skills. My staff says that I mixed maternal care with a serious attitude; I gained great respect for my accuracy.
Another passion of mine is to organize and plan. In my last job ashore, I completed all the office work, when necessary, from negotiating with the suppliers to the tax declaration.
I am very sporty and fit. I like water sports and also like to work on deck, which requires excellent physical fitness. I know that I am no longer a young girl and that the first gray hairs may show, nevertheless, with my 1.60 m and 52 kg, I am a whirlwind of positive energy - my friends call me the "Energizer Bunny" because I am constantly in motion and tireless.
I hope you’ll consider my application, review the rest of my CV and contact me soon.
Thank you for your attention. ~ Algis-Dorit Roessner

Knuesperli: Are you in the Caribbeans and looking for "crew". I just crossed the Atlantic on a Volvo 60 for the RORC Transatlantic Race and now crewed as mate (friend of mine as skipper) for a US couple on a Dufour 56. I would be interested to stay on a boat for a couple of weeks or month and explore parts of the world I haven't seen. Potentially participating in the upcoming races in Antigua...

Would be nice to meet you!

PS: Friend of mine certified, dutch skipper would be willing to join as well...
