Waterwoman: Hola!
I'm Suz and I'm super excited to explore the nature and adventure sport potential of the seas. I'm a DIY oceanographer and oceanexplorer, learning about the seas through sailing, kitesurfing and freediving. I live the nomad lifestyle as an location independent entrepreneur working on ocean related sustainability and adventure projects.

I've logged 3 Atlantic Crossings, multiple overnight passages in the Caribbean and Med, crewed in a few regattas, +/- 17.000 NM sailed on +/- 20 different boats. Can provide references for all of them. Extensive knowledge on the Atlantic, Caribbean Islands, Greece, Turkey, and Spain. Love discovering new territories and can be your guide to figure it all out. I'm particularly passionate about wooden boats. Looking into building on in Carriacou (Grenada), where they still build them on the beach! In search for the right partner/ investor/ film producer.

I keep a positive and calm attitude no matter the situation, and can to help in all areas of sailing, planning, cooking & maintenance. I speak fluent Dutch, English and Spanish and a little French and German. I'm a sailing guide writer and video creator. I don't smoke and eat vegan. I don't have problems with others eating meat/fish.

Currently most interested to hear about opportunities:
- Summer 2017: Available for short trips / passages / regatta's in the Med and Canary Islands.
- Early 2018: Available for Atlantic Crossing (as captain or crew)
- 2018: Captain opportunities for a small vessel. Hope to obtain my RYA Offshore license.

Interested in paid jobs, joining wooden boat regattas, skill exchanges, also willing to chip in if it's the perfect match. Also I'm keen to take care of your boat in the Med may you need to leave your boat.

Looking for shared mindsets on adventure, kitesurfing, freediving, sustainability, saving the ocean, and a healthy lifestyle.

Mariala: Hi all,
My name is Maria. I'm very outgoing and sunny person. I consider myself an active person and I enjoy sailing and just be by the sea a lot. I love travelling, getting to know new cultures and exploring the world. Sailing is definitely my favorite hobby during summer. I have sailed 2 years in Finland and done cruising and competition as a bowman. When I've been cruising I have learned how to navigate, practice to get the boat to the harbors and handling the boats in general. I know also how to handle the sails and do some basic trimming. I'm eager to learn more about everything what I can do in the boat.

Some highlights include: Thistle one design racing, J120 one design racing, 1st place Newport to Bermuda on J44, 5 trips to Bermuda then continued to Antigua or Saint Martin on either J160 or Swan 56. Currently land locked in south East Asia would appreciate getting on the water again.

Kind regards,

CruiseCrewMan: >> Following is a description of my sailing experience:
>> In the early 1970's I was introduced to sailing on Lake Erie in exchange for my rebuilding an Atomic 4 engine in a 27 foot sloop. The owner exposed me to sail trim, navigational basics, knots and boat handling. I purchased and read Chapman's "Piloting, Seamanship and Small Boat Handling" at his direction. I estimate that I sailed approximately 600 miles on the Great Lakes with several trips to Canada and Canadian waters. We did much of our Great Lakes sailing as night given the owner's aversion to excessive sun exposure.

>> Upon relocating to the West Coast in 1974 I renewed my sailing involvement in the early through the Santa Barbara Sailing Association. The Association conducts formal training seminars and rents sailing craft to day sailors and for coastal sailing to the Channel Islands off the Santa Barbara Coast. I attended formal training sessions on day time/ night time navigation practices including hands on navigation in the Pacific Waters between Santa Barbara and the Channel Islands. The navigation practices taught were based on paper charts as opposed to electronic navigation (Garmin Systems) which were not readily available at the time.
>> Later in the 1980's, I attended a week long J-World training in Key West that involved high pressure boat handling and sail changes under racing conditions on a J24 sloop. Upon my return to Santa Barbara I began crewing on a J-24 and later on a J-105 for Santa Barbara Yacht Club sanctioned races. I continue to act as trimmer and tactician on a Jeanneau 36i for SBYC sanctioned races.
>> In the early 2000's I participated (with my wife) a Captain and another crew member in a Catalina 36 delivery from Santa Barbara Harbor to Long Beach Harbor via Santa Barbara Island and 2 Harbors at Catalina Island. My wife and I took the 12:00 am to 4:00 am watch the first night out and motored the yacht through the night (through the coastal shipping channel) to a mooring on the Easterly end of Santa Barbara Island.
>> I also participated in the last leg of the 2016 SoCal 300 from Santa Barbara to San Diego and stood 3 watches acting as watch captain on one of the watches. In 2016 I also participated in the "King Harbor Race" from Santa Barbara around Anacapa Island to King Harbor in Los Angeles acting as evening watch captain and skipper in moderate 8 to 12 knots of wind.
>> My formal watercraft training includes the following certifications and acknowledgements:
>> -J-World Racing week long sailing seminar
>> -Coastal Cruising and Boat Handling Certification
>> -Coastal Day Time / Night Time Navigation Certification
>> - 2017 US Sailing "Safety at Sea" 2 day seminar certification.
>> - Numerous SBYC seminars on rigging, international waterway laws, sailboat racing rules, boat maintenance best practices, etc
