everyman: I am a retired veterinarian from California currently living in Argentina. I have windsurfed and sailed Hobie Cats for years. I recently completed a basic sailing course in Buenos Aires on a 10 meter yacht. I am very adventurous. (I recently rode a motorcycle from California to Ushuaia, at the tip of South America.) I want to become a competent sailor so that I can buy a sailboat and embark on another adventure.

I am physically very fit and healthy. I do not smoke. I love the outdoors and am allergic to cities. I am easy going, accepting of what is, I try to live in the present. I think most people who know me would say I am kind and generous. I am not unintelligent.

Since I am relatively inexperienced and older (a big negative, I know) I am willing to assume a greater portion of the expenses.

Chappy04: My name is Tom Chapman, I am 19 years old and currently live in Bicester near Oxford.

I work as a freelance sound technician so am very flexible. I went on a school sailing trip in 2014 which I really enjoyed, and gave me a competent crew qualification. I have always liked boats and the sea so would be great to be able to get on some trips.

My work is quite seasonal, and is quiet in the winter, so would be good to get out between November and early spring next year.

I am willing to go on any kind of trip including pleasure, delivery and fishing, and I am also happy to perform any roles on the boat such as unskilled manual labour, basic sailing duties and general cleaning/assistance roles

MyForthView: Professionally - A kind of make it happen person! A lifelong appetite for all things nautical, ocean sailing, navigation and meteorology.

From a sailing perspective, I hold a full RYA Yachtmaster Offfshore Certificate and the RYA Ocean Yachtmaster theory qualification, but ex naval navigator, including vhf and long-range radio certificates. I started sailing in 1954 and have been sailing solo since 1963. My passion for ocean sailing and routing and meteorology is well known, including a gold medal presented to me by both the French and Canadian authorities in 2008 for undertaking this work (free of charge), in taking 60 yachts in both directions from La Rochelle – Quebec – La Rochelle. Known as the Grande Traversée de l'Atlantique, this was part of the festivities celebrating the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec. This included taking a number of yachts through the eye of a massive hurricane Bertha in real time.

With plenty of free time since residing on the banks of the Firth of Forth, I give back a lifetime’s sailing experience to assist boat owners/skippers, etc with any sailing requirements they may have. This can be at any time during the 7-day week and for any duration, from day sailing to passage making, to delivery whether it be coastal, offshore or ocean if short-handed, etc.

In September I skippered a Moody 41 from the River Forth (Scotland) to Kristiansand (Norway) and return. The two-way trip took 3.5 days out and 5 days back, which included a F7 and 12 metre swell off the SW corner of Norway. The essence was to teach the owner to understand passage making and to ascertain if the yacht was capable of such passages. As I am retired all I ask is that my return flights back to Edinburgh are paid for and that I am fed and watered on the boat, and remuneration for the time I am on-board.

Further, recently, I was contracted to take a Fountaine Pajot catamaran from Southampton to Gibraltar for a boat owner new to sailing and instruct him over this passage period (at his request) in all techniques of catamaran sailing for three weeks.

The basis of remuneration are flights from and to Edinburgh, fed and watered on the boat, and remuneration for the time I am on-board.

Perhaps you can respond by email to as it will be more convenient.

I have met and discussed with many boat owners over the years, who intend to undertake great voyages and a vast percentage are not prepared. My strength is to share my experience to allow owners achieve their ambitions while on passage.

I support sailing for the disabled and you can visit the Facebook group "Sailing For A Cause" to find out about it, participate or to join the Group.

The Crewbay website has full detail of me.

Thanks for reading.

hillyc: I love the ocean and enjoy sailing! I'm organized, attention to details, clean, happy and easy-going with high adaptability, positive attitude and fast learning ability; good at swimming and possess open water diving licence.
Have been travelling Australia, South America for 29 months, mostly by land. One awesome and memorable sailing in Whitsunday region inspired me another way to explore the world!
Hope to gain sailing experience by crossing the North Atlantic Ocean to Europe in 2017 :)

Emilylynn: My name is Emily, I'm 25 years old. I am a fun, energetic, easy going person with live-aboard, coastal, and off-shore sailing trip experience. I have been sailing professionally on traditional tall ships for four years. I love everything about the sailing lifestyle, especially the people and the hard work. I have some experience working with engineering, and would be excited to help the engineer and learn more. I am looking for a safe fun boat to cross the Pacific to New Zealand!
Thanks! Emily
