emieglobe: Hello there!

My name is Emilie, i am 23 years old and i am a french canadian from Montreal. I am currently studying to become a french high school teacher at Unversité de Sherbrooke located in Sherbrooke, Quebec. I am an aventurous woman craving for new aventures, especially on the sea, after working so hard at school. I would absolutely love to be a teacher/nanny on the sea and help your kids getting a unique education or just taking care of them. I've always baby sit kids and i've been a french tutor for the past 4 years.

In may 2017, i will be graduating for Université de Sherbrooke located in Québec. Dispite my young age, I traveled in many countries such as Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Maroco, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Thailand since I was 18 years old with my backpack to meet new people and discover their culture. Also, I have many teaching experiences such as teaching french as a second language in a rural school, teaching to immigrants and young adults, teaching french as a first language and teaching french to kids with spécial needs. I have successfuly acheveid 4 interships in many different schools over the last 4 years at Université de Sherbrooke.

Nelson Mandela, someone who I admire, once said: « Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world ». I totally agree with this beautiful sentence. School is like a second home to most children, it is a place where they can learn important life lessons. They also learn how to read, write, and articulate themselves and developing their minds and intellectual capability. Without their teacher and all the things they learn at school, it would be difficult for those brilliant children to advance in life, personally but also on a more global scale. I want to be the one to ignite the spark of learning in my students. What I think that Mandela meant by this quote is that having access to an education is important and necessary to change the world. It is the key to win the struggle against inequality and to be able to help people in need. I want to be a teacher to change the world, one day, one lesson, one child at a time. I want to inspire my students.

I think that teaching, despite all the difficulties and the issues teacher may face, is the best job in the world for a thousand of reasons. Here are some of my favorite reasons to become a secondary teacher: positively impact the future of my world, experience personal growth, give and receive unconditional love, help my students to solve their problems and make a difference in their life and help move all my students closer to becoming a caring, cultivate, successful and open-minded adult one day.

Traveling is such an important part of my life. I want to travel all over the world and teaching would be the most amazing job because I can be a teacher in most countries. Also, I’ve always enjoyed learning new languages and have had success in it. Why do I want to be a languages teacher? Languages are all about connecting with people. I am so grateful and happy to be multilingual when I travel, and meet new people. There is no better way to share my love of languages than by teaching to my students. I would love to teach French, my first language, as a second language to students. It must be one of the most creative jobs and I would learn something new everyday by interacting with my students.

I believe I am suitable to the profession of teaching for many reasons. Since I was young, the best way for me to learn at school, has always been to repeat all my lessons to my family, my friends or a fictional class. I’ve always liked to help my younger brother and my little cousins to do their homework and study for their exams. Usually, I am not so patient in life, but when it comes to explaining something to someone, I become the most patient person. I think that patience is one of the key attribute of a teacher. My students will come from different backgrounds and different needs, and the only way I can succeed in helping them is taking my time and to make sure everyone understands. Also, I make sure that when someone is talking to me, I pay complete attention and only interrupt to ask questions when it is necessary. I find myself an adaptable person. Teachers may face situations when they need to make changes about their schedule and lessons and I think it’s important to be willing to change you plans. Also, I am a very open-minded person. I would love to teach in other countries in small towns to discover new cultures and new teaching methods. I do not fear children how have difficulties. To continue, I am a very creative person and I think this quality is essential when you are a teacher. It is important for a teacher to be able to create lessons that grab their student’s attention and make them want to go forward and learn more. Finally, I think that I am well-suited to the profession of teaching because I am a caring and compassionate person. A lot of children face problems outside their school. It is important to recognize when something is wrong and to be able to help them the best you can.

Richard Leblanc, a teacher from York University said something amazing about teaching: « good teaching is as much about passion as it is about reason. It’s about not only motivating students to learn, but teaching them how to learn, and doing so in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, and memorable. It’s about caring for your craft, having a passion for it, and conveying that passion to everyone, most importantly to your students. At the end of the day, good teaching is about having fun, experiencing pleasure and intrinsic rewards…like locking eyes with a student in the back row and seeing the synapses and neurons connecting, thoughts being formed, the person becoming better, and a smile cracking across a face as learning all of a sudden happens ».

I want to be a teacher because I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Two of my long time friends had the chance to joined the Sorlandet crew when they were younger for school and I heard so much great things from them about this amazing adventure Now that ill be graduating in a few months, I would love nothing more than to be part of this adventure and teach to the students. I can teach french as a first language, french as a second langage or even english as a second langage. Regarding my sailing experience, I have sailled a few times in the carabeen seas with some family friends on a Benito 42. I helped them to accomplissed basic tasks but i would love to learn new stuff. I am hoping to be owner of a sailboat someday. I am adventurous, curious and open minded person. I can easily adapt to various situations. Know that I am willing to take any courses I need to be a better sailor.

I have recently discoverd and subscribed on Crewbay, because i was curious and wanted to explore the options and possibilities. I am not sure about my plan when my last university summester if over, but sailing for a few weeks/months seems awesome.

Thanks a lot for you help, I hope to hear from you.

I wish you an awesome day!

I asked for a leave at work for the current school year and I have been improving my sailing skills during the previous months. Looking for new sailing plans at the moment.
