Scotland - France
My name is Alex, mid-late 30s.
This July I’m taking my 1982 Spanish Swan38 (Noray) down to Morocco. The first major leg is from Rhu Marina or Largs in Scotland down the Irish Sea and over the channel to Brest.
This is not a rush trip, I’m mostly going to be doing day sailing and enjoying destinations en route.
My experience:
Raced and sailed most of my life, yachtmaster theory, day skipper, VHF and first aid.
Route:
Weather dependent but probably hug the east coast of Ireland. Across to Milford Haven. Round Cornwall and transit the channel from Falmouth.
Berth:
It’s an ol’ fashioned cruiser - very well built but not as beamy as modern boats. There is a 3/4 berth by the nav station and a couple of pilot berths with Lee sheets.
Safety:
- AIS class B transmit and receive
- life jackets, rings and life raft
- flares, harnesses and jack stays
No couples or smokers.
