Amsterdam - Plymouth => 470 nm

We are crossing the English Channel and sailing along on the british coastline. Starting Saturday morning at the Ijsselmeer in Lelystad, passing Amsterdam to the sealock Ijmuiden. Then depending on the direction of the wind, either to Felixstowe or down to Vlissingen. Dover and the Isle of Wight with famous Cowes are there for a short visit. The route is planned as daytime sailing starting early, but we have to calculate the tidal streams. That trip is a mixture of everything: Mile building, delivery, racing?, making new friends, visiting famous ports and staying at anchor. Maybe one night sailing in a shift system, everything is possible. You need your own foul weather gear, just in case. Automatic lifevests have had a new check and we carry a 10-person-liferaft, epirb and iridium-tracker.
To cover a percentage of the running costs and to be fair to my other sailing friends i have to ask for a daily rate of 50€ for a shared cabin with own bathroom. Provisions and Harbourfees are split in equal shares between us. I pay the diesel alone.
Crossing the North Sea
Lupita is a wonderful boat to sail, she was extremely comfortable and Lars keeps her in really beautiful condition. I really enjoyed crossing the North Sea from Dover, England and then hugging the French, Belgian and Dutch coast all the way to Amsterdam. Lars is a kind, supportive skipper who took the time to explain and train me in the things I asked him about. I felt my personal safety was well respected onboard and for women sailing - I felt very safe and warmly welcomed aboard.
