Crossing to Azores/EU on a 56ft Oyster | Crew Wanted (Costs Covered) + Golden Retriever Onboard

Hi! ⛵

We are currently in Cartagena, Colombia, preparing for the next stage of our passage toward Europe.

Before the Atlantic crossing, we’ll sail north through the Caribbean — a leg we expect to be more challenging and rewarding, heading toward Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, or possibly the Eastern Caribbean (weather dependent).
After that, the plan continues toward the Azores.

About the boat & onboard life

* 56ft Oyster — safe, solid, and well-equipped bluewater yacht
* We are currently two onboard (one male, one female)
* I cover all major boat expenses (fuel, maintenance, marinas, etc.)
* Crew contributes to shared food/groceries
* Atmosphere onboard is respectful, clean, and relaxed
* Occasionally, family members may join for short periods
* Bonus crew member: a sweet 7-month-old Golden Retriever ? (calm, friendly, very much part of the team)

Lifestyle onboard

To keep things harmonious and enjoyable:

* ? No smoking onboard
* ? No alcohol (except maybe an occasional glass of wine)
* ? Mostly pescatarian cooking (seafood + vegetarian)

About me

I do astronomy and Hamradio, I enjoy Latin American music, salsa dancing, and an active lifestyle — swimming, exploring, hiking, and staying curious about the places we visit. If you like movement, music, and good energy, we’ll likely get along well.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for one competent crew member to join us for this upcoming leg.

This is not a beginner cruising hop — the next passage can involve longer sails, night watches, and more demanding conditions, so some real sailing experience and confidence at sea is important.

You’ll be part of the crew, sharing responsibilities such as:

* watchkeeping & basic navigation support
* sail handling, anchoring, and dinghy use
* cooking, cleaning, and general upkeep
* contributing to a smooth and positive onboard dynamic

You should be:
✅ reliable and responsible
✅ safety-minded
✅ proactive and hands-on
✅ easygoing and respectful
✅ comfortable at sea (including night watches)

What comes next

* Immediate departure from Cartagena
* Northbound Caribbean passage (Jamaica / DR / Eastern Caribbean — weather dependent)
* Followed later by the Atlantic crossing toward the Azores

If you’re looking for a real sailing experience — not just island hopping — on a capable yacht with a good crew, this could be a great fit.

? Please include:

* your availability
* your sailing experience
* a short introduction about yourself
* what you’re looking for from this trip

Fair winds ⛵✨
