Cruising the Aegean Sea

I am seeking nice and intellectually stimulating people that could join me cruising the Aegean Sea and have the capacity to draw fun from it. Some sailing experience is desirable so that you know what you are taking on, otherwise there will be plenty of opportunities for team building and skills improvement. The sailing season of Grey Goose starts 5th May this year. Strictly for non-smokers only.

I have been sailing for 40 years but I never before had enough free time to justify having my own boat. This year is the fourth season I will be sailing my own boat with existing and hopefully new friends. My sailing focus has firmly moved from, sailing performance, to cruising and fun.

My idea of fun does not include dramas. Life is too precious to be wasted in such. The Greek islands offer great opportunities to be close to nature and explore life that the tourist trails do not. Over the years sailing has been a fantastic platform to develop friendships and a great filter that grades compatibility rather quickly. I love getting to know new people from diverse backgrounds and sharing sailing experiences from multiple perspectives.

I prefer crews that are able to commit to several weeks at a time. Single week sailing does not allow enough time to build team momentum and to get to know each other. The boat is dry while at sea and I am afraid there is zero tolerance for smoking and substance abuse.

I divide my time between Greece and the UK trying to catch up with all the things my past corporate life did not allow me to do. I love exploring, hiking, diving, meeting interesting people and more. Naturally, as most boat owners do, I fix boat problems with a smile, and I am rather good at it!

If the above sounds enticing just drop me a line.

  • Boat descriptionGrey Goose is a Hanse400 sailing boat with two steering wheels, single spade rudder, a self-tacking jib and a colourful asymmetric cruising chute. All control lines are operated from the cockpit. Below deck the accommodation comprises a double V-berth in the fore cabin and double berths in each of the two aft cabins. Heads and the shower are located mid-ship. The boat systems include water-maker, generator and solar panels enabling operation off shore for long periods of time. In addition to lifejackets and a life raft the boat’s safety infrastructure includes VHF/GMDSS, AIS, EPIRB, Internet connectivity and 5G. The boat is configured for single handed sailing but of course it’s always far more enjoyable when time on board and ashore can be shared and enjoyed by interesting people in a positive, relaxed and mutually supporting environment. No dramas here!. For the comfort and safety of the crew on board, there is bedding (blankets, pillows, sheets, etc.), towels, as well as safety vests, lifebuoys, life jackets etc on board.
