Cruising Companion for UK Circumnavigation (Charity event)
Hi,
I'm Richard and from May 2026 I am going to be circumnavigating the UK in order to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson's UK.
I am an RYA Yacht Master and more than capable of doing this on my own, however that is not always a good idea. So I'm opening up this opportunity to competent crew that would like to do some day sails with me.
This might not be easy and there is no guarantee that it will all be plain sailing. This is why I want somebody who is competent at being a crew member. If you com onboard then I'll need to be able to trust my life into your hands... and mine in yours, of course.
My plan is to leave Plymouth on the 8th of May and do short hops, clockwise around the UK, each day of no more than 40 miles a day (there are days I can't do this though) I intend to be in a different harbour / marina / anchorage each night.***
At each port of call I will be 'shaking the tin' and asking people for donations. That is why your costs are all on you; this is for a charity event.
I have a list of over 91 harbours and marinas that I will be calling at. a majority of these stops are already paid for by some very generous donors.
Life on board:
Ketty11 is a 28ft Colvic countess and there is only 1 forepeak cabin. There is space for 6 people apparently, but that's just boat talk.
We will take turns cooking and helming. We might eat at a pub, we might not get chance.

This is a ROUGH plan. starting on 8th May and add a day for each stop. This is 90 harbours, so there is NO CHANCE of it being correct at the end of the trip. (But hopefully I'll be back in Plymouth on 1st August)
