Crew Wanted: Mediterranean Adventure + Atlantic Crossing

Crew Wanted – Mediterranean Adventure & Atlantic Crossing

We’re looking for one person, a couple or a pair of friends to join us aboard our Lagoon 42 catamaran for an unforgettable sailing season—cruising the Mediterranean and crossing the Atlantic this November.

About Us
We’re a laid-back but capable crew with a strong focus on safety, self-sufficiency, and enjoying the journey. We prefer anchoring over marinas, exploring places properly, and keeping the boat running smoothly without unnecessary stress. Expect a balance of adventure, responsibility, and good times—this isn’t a party boat, but we absolutely enjoy the lifestyle that comes with being out here.

The Boat
Our home is a well-equipped Lagoon 42 sailing catamaran—comfortable, spacious, and set up for long-distance cruising. She’s maintained to a high standard, with reliable systems and everything needed for extended time off-grid, including water-making capability and solid sailing performance.

The Plan
We’re currently in Cyprus and will be sailing west through:
Cyprus → Greece → Turkey → Malta → Sicily → Sardinia → Corsica → Balearic Islands → Gibraltar → Canary Islands → Cape Verde → Atlantic Crossing (November) → Caribbean

Ideally crew would join for at least part (or all) of the Mediterranean leg, then the Atlantic crossing after we ensure it is a good fit for both sides.

Who We’re Looking For
• Single person, couple, or pair of friends (one private cabin / head provided)
• Ideally in your 20s–30s, adventurous and easygoing
• Minimal experience required, but a strong willingness to learn is essential
• Positive attitude, flexible mindset, and comfortable living in close quarters
• Must be reasonably fit and capable of handling basic physical tasks onboard
• Must be drug free with no alcohol consumption whilst underway

Responsibilities
• Shared cooking and cleaning
• Assisting with docking and general boat operations
• Standing watch on passages (including overnight)
• Being a reliable and engaged member of the crew

Costs
• Crew are responsible for their own transportation to/from the boat
• Shared food and provisioning costs onboard

This is a hands-on, real cruising experience—ideal for someone looking to build skills, gain offshore miles, and be part of a proper passage across the Atlantic.

If this sounds like your kind of adventure, reach out with a bit about yourself, your experience (if any), and what draws you to this trip.

Happy to answer any questions and see if it’s a good fit.

  • Boat descriptionOur vessel is a Lagoon 42 sailing catamaran, designed specifically for comfortable, long-range cruising while maintaining solid sailing performance. She offers a stable, spacious platform that is well-suited for both Mediterranean coastal sailing and offshore passages, including our planned Atlantic crossing. Layout & Living Space: The boat features a modern catamaran layout with wide beam and excellent separation of space. The saloon and cockpit are on a single level, creating an open, social living area with great visibility. The galley is fully equipped for offshore cooking, with ample refrigeration and storage for extended provisioning. Crew will have access to a private cabin (for a single or couple), with a private head. The boat is set up to be comfortable for longer-term living aboard, not just short trips. Systems & Self-Sufficiency: She is equipped for off-grid cruising, including: Watermaker Solar power and battery storage for sustained anchoring Refrigeration/freezer for extended provisioning Pressurized hot/cold water system We prioritize anchoring over marinas whenever practical, so systems are set up with independence in mind. Sailing Performance: The Lagoon 42 is known for being forgiving, stable, and predictable under sail—ideal for mixed-experience crew. She performs well on passages, particularly off the wind, and provides a comfortable motion at sea compared to monohulls. While not a racing vessel, she maintains good average passage speeds and is well-suited for long-distance cruising. Sail plan includes a code zero and a parasailor. Navigation & Instruments: The vessel is equipped with standard modern navigation electronics, including: GPS chartplotter Autopilot Wind, depth, and speed instruments VHF radio (with AIS) These systems allow for safe coastal navigation and offshore passagemaking, including night sailing and watchkeeping. Safety Equipment & PracticesSafety is taken seriously onboard. Equipment includes: Life jackets and safety harnesses for all crew Jacklines for offshore movement on deck Liferaft EPIRB Flares and signaling devices Fire extinguishers and fire blanket First aid kit suitable for offshore use We follow common-sense offshore safety practices, including clipped-in movement on deck at night or in rough conditions, structured watch schedules on passage, and clear communication during docking and sail handling. General Approach: The boat is maintained to a high standard and operated with a focus on safety, seamanship, and shared responsibility. While the environment onboard is relaxed and enjoyable, everyone is expected to contribute and remain aware—especially during passages and critical maneuvers. Happy to provide additional technical details or specific equipment lists if needed.
