Watch: Thomasvaer 2018
From Athens to Leros
I am looking for 1 or 2 people to join me from the 20th of August to complete my voyage from Athens to Leros, sailing either through the Northern Sporades, Skiathos, Skopelos, Skyros, Ikaria or a more direct route through the Agean with Kea, Tinos, Mikonos, Ikaria...(I am not listing all the stops!), the wind and the weather will tell us We must arrive in Leros around the 7th of September at the latest. We sail most days (depending on weather), then we either anchor in a nice bay, hang on a town quay or visit a marina. We take our time, we enjoy exploring, visiting islands, swimming, enjoying sailing life, this is not a delivery, this is a sailing adventure with a destination.
Regarding costs, I take care of all expenses directly associated with the boat: fuel, harbour fees, electricity, water, repairs, gas, etc... But you pay for your travel to and from the boat. For food and everyday items such as loo rolls and washing-up liquid (not alcohol), we run a kitty on board (to which I also contribute). This worked out at approx 75 euro/week each last year and when and if we go out we either share the bill, invite each other, or pay our own way.
Thomasvaer is a classic Swedish sailing yacht (Vindö 50 MS) built in 1972. A long keel blue water yacht, she is well maintained, regularly surveyed and always modernised, with a new engine, new mainsail, new genoa, and more. She offers the luxury of the 70's that is a cosy space with 4 comfortable bunks in two shared cabins, a galley, and a toilet (but no shower). Some people have called it luxury camping on a “pirate ship”! I think it is better than camping!
If you are interested, you will have been on a boat before, but most importantly you must be a real team member and not just a passenger. This is not a charter boat or a Mediterranean cruise.
Over the last 12 years, Thomasvaer and I have sailed over 22,000 NM with more than 80 different crew members — women and men ranging from 17 to 65 years old and coming from many different countries. They all have one thing in common : Enjoying being on a boat and being able to tie a couple of knots (although some struggled with the latter!)

A Beautiful Boat and a Brilliantly Entertaining Captain
I sailed with Pierre for two weeks from Valencia to Motril with 2 other crew. We had a wonderful time stopping in different cities each evening and making the most of the journey. Pierre is a knowledgeable and skilled captain who knows his boat well and I learned a lot whilst sailing with him.
