Cross Channel Cruise - Southampton - Honfleur and back

I shall be taking my Westerly Oceanlord, OD1, on a cross-channel legs of the Westerly Owners’ Association 60th Anniversary Cruise. After assembling in Portsmouth, the fleet plans to make passage for Cherbourg, and then on to Honfleur via St Vaast and Ouistreham. We shall sail from Southampton to Portsmouth to join the fleet, sail with the fleet to Honfleur, and then return to Southampton.

As, despite my replacement knees, I am no longer as nimble as I was, I’m looking for enthusiastic, energetic crew who will be happy to run around the deck, take lines ashore, grind the winches and generally enjoy sailing a classic ocean cruiser.

This is an opportunity to gain experience, build miles, visit some interesting ports and learn more about cruising (I’m a retired cruising instructor and sail training skipper). Ideal crew would be “competent” and looking to experience passages more adventurous than a day sail. There may be an opportunity for watch-keeping on the return trip

On-board costs and marina fees will be shared via a nominal daily contribution, to be agreed.

  • Boat descriptionUsed as a sail training vessel until recently, O,D,1 was Westerly's prototype for their flagship Oceanlord class. With berths for 8, she carries all the safety gear required for a "category 2" sail training vessel - lifejackets, harness and lines; liferaft, lifebouys and dan bouy; DSC radio and AIS; chartplotter and instruments; extinguishers and gas detector etc. Some waterproofs are available for crew, but, unfortunately, no boots.
