Canarias to Cabo Verde: 1000 Nm - 15 days - 20 to 30 March 2027

Interesting passage along the trade winds, towards the beautiful islands of Cabo Verde ñ after few days in Canarias, preparing the boat for the passage, we leave with the trade winds to go in a direct one week and 900 Nm to the island of Mindelo.

This is an ocean Sailing type passage, in which we are aim to enhance human skills and perceptions, in this age of technology where it is easy to simulate or manipulate everything ; we believe that human techniques must be at the heart of the art of sailing.

We are here to help you to organize your skills into a coherent pattern, aiming for autonomy in ocean sailing.
We like sharing tips and sometimes knowledge ;)
We are not a sailing school, we do not delivering any diploma of any type.

We organise "RYA type" passages, compliant with YM Offshore and YM Ocean requirements. We have a Sextant on board that you can use, but you will have to bring your own sight reduction tables.

You are expected to be fully involved into every duties and activities onboard, accordingly to your abilities. We will of course support you in every aspects of life on a sailing boat at sea.

Contribution is asked, per leg and per crew member. It includes accommodation, food, fuel, satcoms and marina fees, as well as a contribution to boat readiness for sea.

For offshore legs, you ideally will have spent at least few nights at sea, and have experienced some strong or heavy weather conditions for a significant amount of time.

Total crew will be 4-6 people for efficient and fast sailing and various training opportunities.

We will do celestial navigation training and practise. We will go into every aspect of managing a boat and a crew when offshore over a long duration.
We will do several foresail changes, reefing, and flying spinnakers, trying to get the best from our boat.

Preferably no heavy smokers ; and of course no alcohol at sea, and no drugs at all....

Standing rigging replaced in 2022, as well as new mainsail. New Blast Reacher in 2024, new staysail 2025. Running rigging replaced and updated 2023 and 2025.

Stéphane is a very good teacher, patient and with a lot of knowledge. The boat is lovely and in perfect conditions, which is very good opportunity to learn about all kind of maintenanc. He is very welcoming and respectful. We didn't had the possibility to sailing together but based on is professional and non professional experience I would recommend 100% .

Aviles to Azores

Joined Stephane for a passage from Aviles to the Azores, which I used as my Ocean qualifying passage. I was made very welcome on board his very well maintained and comfortable boat from the start. Stephane runs a very happy and relaxed boat and goes out his way to make sure that you are well looked after and well fed on passage. Stephane has a wealth of maritime knowledge which I certainly benefited from both by observation and discussion. I would not hesitate to recommend sailing with Stephane and I’m contemplating doing so again if he does ventures into the high latitudes.

Excellent Captain, Incredible Company

I stayed with Stephane for about a month in 2018. He welcomed me onto his boat and treated me like family. Working with him was a genuine pleasure, and his passion for sailing and the sea is contagious. I would highly recommend a trip with him and the Grynning to any person wishing to get out on the water.
