Cartagena (Spain) to Stockholm 25.7 - 9/9

Departure Cartagena about 27/7. Before that we need to provision the boat and prepare the boat for sailing. Boat should be in Stockholm latest 9/9, probably a few days earlier.
We will share the duties onboard, like. watch keeping, cooking. Probably this time we will sail with a crew of 4, so there will be some 6 by 6 watch keeping.
The plan is to sail from Cartagena, stop in Gibraltar and Lagos/Portimao depending weather. We have to find a weather window to go north along the Portuguese coast. Depending on the Orca situation (they should have moved north from Gibraltar by then) we might have to sail 100 NM west of Portugal, or we might be able to go close to the coast. From there to Brittany, maybe the Scillies and also depending weather through the Kiel Canal or round the Skaw and then up to Stockholm. If this goes like normal there will be about as many sailing days as days at anchor/in port.
Easygoing and not too stressed is the ideal crew. Seasickness passes.
We share the cost of food and the cost of marinas (where necessary, anchoring is preferred). Fuel and all else is on the boat.
Itinerary is sure to change, sailing is very weather dependent.

  • Boat description78' LOA, 73' LOD ULDB ketch, narrow hull, simple interior but comfortable. Good pentry, 3 cabins, 2 heads, pressurised fresh water, fridge, bimini, dinghy, outboard, Kayak, A/C (only on shore power), heating. Storage is unfortunately very limited. Safety gear depending on cruising area. Always survival suits onboard. Built originally for ocean racing. Long waterline and low displacement make this a very fast and fun to sail cruising yacht, without much drama, though. Logg, echo sounder, wind instrument, autopilot, nav computer, VHF, AIS, Sat tracker. This boat is made for sailing more than marina living. She has a narrow hull and is very different from modern production boats. Hull built to high specifications, with excellent quality. Interior has very little wood, though. all done in fiberglass foam core composite to save weight.

Perfect first time sailing

5

I was sailing with Martin in Turkey for two weeks. Martin was already very nice at the beginning. He picked me up from the station to the harbor. The boat was pretty big with a comfortable saloon. Even though I lacked experience, Martin was always happy to teach me any skills on the trip. Martin is calm and funny, which made the whole sailing experience very enjoyable! He knew the great spots in Turkey and we always anchored at a nice place to explore and swim. The crew was really nice and we had so much fun. I will always miss the night shift that saw many stars in the sky. Thank you, Martin! That's the best thing I could have as a beginner in sailing, and I really loved it!

Great Sailing and Leadership.

I had the privilege of joining Martin on a 15-day passage from Greece to Sardinia. From the very beginning, Martin impressed me with his calm, professional attitude and strong sense of responsibility. He is extremely knowledgeable, safety-conscious, and always willing to explain and involve the crew in sailing operations. What really stood out was his respectful, ego-free leadership style – creating a relaxed but efficient atmosphere onboard. Martin is also a genuinely kind and thoughtful person, someone you feel lucky to sail with. I would join him again without hesitation and highly recommend him to others. Thank you again, Captain – and fair winds!

Best sailing trip along the turkish coast!

Sailing with Martin felt very comfortable, fun and safe. He is definitely a very experienced captain, has a lot of knowledge and is always open to teach you something about sailing. It was a very fun and active sailingtrip with in total 4 people on the boat from Mersin to Marmaris along the coast of Turkey. We did a lot of swimming and snorkeling, went to some nice little towns as well as to some beautiful little bays. I can only recommend going sailing with Martin, as he is a very kind, relaxed and trustworthy person???☺️

I sailed with Martin three years ago in the Cyclades for 11 days. The boat is fantastically beautiful. Pure joy. Racing quality. All the facilities aboard are top class. Martin is a great skipper and a good man to be around.
