Southport, NC -> Essex, CT

Hello again. I'm looking for two experienced crew to help me sail my Valiant 42 from Southport, NC to Essex, CT. I'm waiting to have my fuel lift pump repaired or replaced and new house batteries installed, and I hope that this will all be completed early next week (June 29 or soon thereafter) -- and should be ready to sail north July 1. I expect the passage to take 4-5 days, depending on the weather. This will be an offshore passage (unless we need to duck in to avoid really foul weather) until we round Montauk to head into the Long Island Sound, so it will be great sailing and a good opportunity to build ocean miles if that's what you're interested in. My boat is well-maintained and fully equipped for an offshore passage, and I have done countless ocean miles, including a transatlantic.
There will be 3 of us aboard, and we'll stand 3-hour solo watches around the clock. I ask crew to pay travel expenses to and from my boat, and I pay all expenses aboard (excluding alcohol). Strictly no smoking is allowed. Please DM me with any questions, and thank you for your interest! See less

  • Boat descriptionAllora is a well-appointed yacht, with all that is needed for a safe, comfortable offshore sail. Communications include VHF (including handhelds), SSB, AIS transponder, and an Inreachtracker. (I subscribe to Chris Parker for weather, so we can get personalized forecasts while under way.) She has a chart plotter, radar, and depth, speed, and wind instruments, as well as backup paper charts, an autopilot, an electric winch in addition to the manual ones, solar panels, and wind turbine. Safety equipment includes a life raft, several tossable devices, and an epirb. The stove and burners are propane, and the galley has a freezer along with refrigeration. There have been a number of upgrades since she was built in 2000.
