Pacific Puddle Jump 2027 on a Norseman 447

We're looking for a competent crewmember (male or female) to round out our ship's complement en route to the Marquesas in the Spring of 2027. There will be four of us aboard. Applicant should be offshore experienced, racing experience helps. Crew should be able to stand watch and assist with maintenance, cleaning and meal prep (we're not looking for a maid or a galley slave, but culinary skills would be appreciated). Must be a non-smoker. We're a pretty level headed lot, but if there's one thing we're looking for it's compatibility and the ability to keep one's cool when under pressure. We're leaving from Banderas Bay in March and expect to use our full 90 days in French Polynesia before continuing west. Crew can exit at their discretion when we get to Papeete, or if things are going well, can continue westward. We're planning on doing a lot of snorkeling and scuba diving, so abilities along those lines would also be appreciated. Ditto with mechanical skills, more expertise is always better. Crew will cover their own travel and any unique dietary needs. We'll cover entry fees, but crew will need to post their own bond in French Polynesia as required by the government.

  • Boat descriptionRoam has just been through an extensive three year refit, during which virtually every system on board has been upgraded. She has new non-skid decks, new standing rigging, new Rockna anchor/300' chain, new bow thruster, fully rebuilt Raritan forward head, new Vacuflush head in master suite, new Schenker watermaker, new North Mainsail & cover, new Hydrovane self steering, new Garmin Radar/Chartplotter, new EPIRB, Flares and Liferaft, new AB 10'6 RIB and Mercury 15HP and Mercury 2HP. Newly rebuilt Edson pedestal. VHF x 2, AIS, Icom SSB/Ham, new Maretron weather station. new upholstery in Main Salon. All reefing lines led to cockpit, New Boom vang. She has a Westerbeke 46 w/ Max Prop for propulsion, a Westerbeke genset, plus wind and 750 watt solar panels for power. She is cutter rigged: main, staysail and genoa, with a whisker pole stowed on the mast and a gennaker in a sock for downwind sailing. She has a StarLink mini and an IridiumGo sat phone. She's been across the Pacific twice with prior owners. We purchased her almost 4 years ago in SF Bay area and sailed her first to Baja Naval in Ensenada for refit round 1, and then brought her here to La Cruz for refit round 2. We've tried to be as careful and diligent as possible with her refit and we think she's fully ready to go. We'll be doing shakedowns all winter and intend to jump to the Marquesas in March. We are engaging SV Totem to help with route planning and weather routing. We find her to be a fast, dry boat. An after market hard dodger was added in New Zealand and it really keeps us dry in all weather. We find her to be fairly fast for a big cruising monohull; as a cutter, she doesn't tack quickly, but she is fairly weatherly and she's 30% faster in a straight line than our old Hinckley 38, but in fairness, Roam has a lot more waterline.
