Delivery Crew - Temporary / Seasonal - Min exp 3 years - General (Europe)
PASSAGE
Experienced crew wanted for a private offshore sailing passage from Izola, Slovenia to the Canary Islands aboard a Dufour 44.
Planned departure: late October / early November 2026.
Route: Izola, Slovenia → Mediterranean → Gibraltar → Canary Islands.
Exact departure and arrival dates will depend on weather and passage conditions.
THE YACHT
The yacht is a modern, privately owned Dufour 44 sailing monohull (14 m), well equipped for extended offshore sailing and in preparation for a subsequent Atlantic crossing.
Starlink internet is available onboard. The crew member will have a private cabin. The boat is non-smoking.
EXPERIENCE
We are looking for an experienced male sailor with solid practical sailing experience.
Formal qualifications such as Yachtmaster are not required — practical experience, good seamanship and the ability to stand an independent watch are much more important.
This is not a learn-to-sail opportunity.
The crew member must be comfortable standing independent day and night watches without constant supervision from the skipper, keeping a proper lookout, handling sails and reefing, basic navigation and collision avoidance, and knowing when to call the skipper.
Previous offshore passages and night-watch experience are strongly preferred.
LIFE ABOARD
Everyone joins as an active member of the crew, not as a passenger.
The crew member will participate fully in watchkeeping, sailing, navigation, cooking, cleaning and normal daily life aboard.
We are looking for a calm, responsible, reliable, safety-conscious and easy-going person who works well as part of a small crew.
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT
This is a private, non-commercial passage.
No salary and no charge for a berth.
The owner covers all expenses related to the yacht itself, including fuel, marinas and normal operating costs.
Only food and provisions are shared between the people onboard.
Each crew member is responsible for their own travel to and from the yacht, insurance, visas and personal expenses.
APPLICATION
When applying, please briefly describe your sailing experience, approximate sea miles, longest passage completed, offshore experience, night-watch experience and any sailing qualifications you may have.
There is also the possibility of continuing aboard from the Canary Islands across the Atlantic to the Caribbean in late November 2026. The Atlantic crossing will be advertised separately.
