Sailing Adventure: Pula – Crete – Pula ⛵

Join us for an unforgettable sailing adventure from Croatia to Crete and back!
I'm planning a winter sailing trip from Pula, Croatia, to Crete, Greece, aboard a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 419. The plan is to sail south in October, spend the winter exploring Crete and its surroundings, and return to Pula in February.
⛵ The Trip
Route: Pula (Croatia) – Montenegro – Albania – Greece – Crete – and back
Outbound: October 2026
Return: February 2027
Yacht: Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 419, 12.76 m
Starting point: Marina Veruda, Pula, Croatia
Destination: Agios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece
The trip is privately organised, with the aim of enjoying the journey as much as the destination. We'll combine coastal passages, longer offshore legs, sheltered anchorages, and marina stops depending on the weather and conditions.
? Life on Board
I'm looking for people who enjoy sailing, discovering new places, and being part of a crew. Previous sailing experience is welcome, but enthusiasm, flexibility, teamwork, and a willingness to learn are just as important.
Life aboard involves more than sailing. Everyone contributes to the shared experience, including watchkeeping, navigation, anchoring, cooking, and keeping the boat tidy.
?️ Winter in Crete
Crete is one of my favourite winter destinations. Depending on the weather, conditions, and individual interests, there will be opportunities for:
Exploring beautiful bays and coastal villages
Snorkelling and discovering the underwater world
Hiking and exploring the island
Swimming and enjoying the Mediterranean
Wingfoiling and other watersports when conditions allow
Enjoying local Greek food and culture
The trip is also suitable for couples or friends with different interests who would like to combine sailing with time ashore.
? Practical Information
This is a private, non-commercial sailing adventure. Participants share direct onboard expenses, and the itinerary remains flexible depending on weather, safety, and crew arrangements.
The plan is to organise similar trips in future years, with individual sailing legs typically lasting around 3–4 weeks, but you can also join for just one week. Please get in touch if you're interested in joining the upcoming trip or a future edition.
Interested? Send me a message introducing yourself, your sailing experience, availability, and what you'd like to get out of the trip.
Fair winds!
Frank

  • Boat descriptionThe Yacht – Comfort, Performance & Life on Board Mira is a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 419, a 12.76 m monohull designed for comfortable cruising and enjoyable sailing. With a 3.99 m beam and 2.1 m draft, she offers a spacious interior, generous deck space, and a good balance between sailing performance and comfort. Onboard Facilities Spacious cockpit with twin steering wheels Teak cockpit seating and cockpit floor Folding cockpit table with integrated lighting Bathing platform with telescopic ladder Bow thruster for easier harbour manoeuvres Solar panels to support onboard electrical needs Large hull windows and deck hatches for natural light and ventilation Functional galley with a large refrigerator and freezer Comfortable saloon and cabins for life aboard How Does She Perform? Mira is well suited to coastal cruising and longer passages. She is manageable under sail while offering the space and comfort needed for extended trips. The twin-wheel configuration provides good visibility and easy access around the cockpit, while the bow thruster is helpful when manoeuvring in marinas. Our planned route from Pula to Crete includes coastal sailing and offshore passages through the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. Routes and daily distances will depend on the weather, sea state, and crew experience. Safety always takes priority over the schedule. Facilities & Instruments Mira has solar panels to help maintain onboard electrical supplies. Her navigation equipment supports passage planning and navigation, and we use nautical charts and route-planning tools when preparing our passages. Further details about the installed navigation instruments and communication equipment can be provided to interested crew members. Safety & Crew Responsibilities Safety, preparation, and teamwork are essential, particularly on a longer autumn and winter passage. Before departure, we will discuss the yacht's safety equipment, emergency procedures, weather planning, watchkeeping arrangements, and individual responsibilities. All crew members are expected to follow the skipper's safety instructions and contribute to safe sailing practices. Depending on the passage, this includes watchkeeping, keeping a proper lookout, assisting with navigation, and maintaining a tidy and secure boat. Previous sailing experience is welcome. Equally important are reliability, flexibility, a willingness to learn, and consideration for everyone on board. Life on Board This is a privately organised, non-commercial sailing adventure. Everyone contributes to everyday life aboard, including cooking, cleaning, anchoring, and other shared tasks. We aim to create a friendly atmosphere where everyone can enjoy the sailing, learn from one another, and discover new places together. The objective is not simply to reach Crete, but to enjoy the journey and the experience of living and sailing together.
