Beaufort, NC -> Fort Pierce, FL

I am looking for two experienced crew (i.e., you have offshore sailing experience and are prepared to help stand watch) to complete my passage south, from Beaufort, NC to Fort Pierce, FL. I would like to leave later this week or early next week (i.e., between Nov. 6 and Nov. 11), with the exact date flexible, depending on crew. There will be 3 of us aboard, and we'll stand 3-hour solo watches around the clock. This will be a fully offshore passage (unless we need to duck in to avoid really foul weather) that I expect will take 5 - 6 days, so it should be great sailing and a good opportunity to build ocean miles.
My experience includes countless ocean miles as captain or first mate, including a transatlantic, and my boat is well-maintained and fully equipped for an offshore passage, I ask crew to pay travel expenses to and from my boat, and I pay all expenses aboard. Strictly no smoking.
Thank you for your interest!

  • Boat descriptionAllora is a well-appointed yacht, with all that is needed for a safe, comfortable offshore sail. Communications include VHF (including handhelds), SSB, AIS transponder, and an Inreachtracker. (I subscribe to Chris Parker for weather, so we can get personalized forecasts while under way.) She has a chart plotter, radar, and depth, speed, and wind instruments, as well as backup paper charts, an autopilot, an electric winch in addition to the manual ones, solar panels, and wind turbine. Safety equipment includes a life raft, several tossable devices, and an epirb. The stove and burners are propane, and the galley has a freezer along with refrigeration. There have been a number of upgrades since she was built in 2000.
