Cook / crew wanted — Atlantic crossing on a NEEL 51
Crew wanted for Atlantic crossing — Spain to Caribbean, mid-November 2026
I am looking for 2 additional people for an Atlantic crossing aboard my NEEL 51 trimaran.
The boat is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped for long-distance cruising: private cabins, a proper galley, watermaker, air conditioning, Starlink, substantial solar capacity and plenty of living space.
I have sailed more than 30,000 nautical miles, including three Atlantic crossings, mostly solo or with a small crew.
This is not a paid position, but there is also no contribution required towards the passage.
The main role I am looking for: cook / provisioning
I would particularly like to find one person who genuinely enjoys cooking and is able to take responsibility for food during the passage.
That means being comfortable with:
planning meals for a 2–3 week ocean passage;
making a realistic provisioning list;
organising fridges, freezer and dry stores efficiently;
cooking proper meals at sea;
keeping the galley organised and minimising waste.
You do not need to be a professional chef, but I am looking for someone who is competent, organised and actually enjoys doing this.
Second role: general crew
The second person can be more of a general crew member. Extensive sailing experience is not essential. The boat is highly automated and, under normal conditions, life aboard is not physically demanding.
What matters much more is that you are reliable, calm, self-sufficient and easy to live with, can keep a proper watch, steer the boat manually if necessary, help with normal onboard tasks, and do not need to be entertained all day.
Some sailing experience is useful, but I do not need another professional skipper.
What I am looking for
Ideally roughly 25–40 years old; exceptional candidates outside this range are still welcome to write.
Good physical health and reasonable fitness.
Good resistance to seasickness. Offshore or overnight experience is a strong advantage.
Non-smoker. No drugs. Alcohol only occasionally and preferably ashore.
No highly restrictive dietary requirements that complicate shared cooking.
Stable, adaptable personality and previous experience of travelling, working or living closely with other people.
Able to join for the full Atlantic passage. I am not offering transport to intermediate destinations.
I am not looking for passengers, hitchhikers, delivery requests, bicycles, large amounts of luggage, or people simply looking for free transport to another country.
The likely route is mainland Spain → Caribbean. If Schengen access is a problem, joining in Morocco may also be possible.
After the Caribbean, the boat will most likely continue towards Panama and the Pacific.
