Crew Available starting January 2027 (Ft. Lauderdale, FL, USA)
Hello!
I am looking to work on a sailboat as paid crew doing deliveries or charters. I have 7 months (~7,000 nm) of live aboard experince on both monohull and catamaran. I am comfortable on both, and can get along with just about anyone. I love cleaning, making sourdough bread, and everything that sailing is.
I used this website sucessfully last year to find a captain who took me on as novice recreational crew. I read "Learn How to Sail in Three Days" per his request in order to prepare, and that proved to be sufficent! The two of us sailed from Florida, around the Bahamas for 2 months. Looking for more of a challenge, I joined a catamaran with 5 crew headed for French Polynesia. Over the next 5 months, we took the Windward Passage to Panama, crossed the Panama Canal, then the Pacific, and sailed around French Polynesia. Those 7 months sailing was the most alive, aligned, and at peace I've ever felt. I wanted to keep sailing but an opportunity came up to manage a start-up sargassum upcycling project in my home country, Belize, so I went back to land. Unfortunately, the project has lost its funding.

My life story (in bullet points for convinence):
- Born in Belize, grew up playing in mangroves, boating and adventuring remote islands
- Moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL when I was 10
- Obtained a BS in Energy Engineering from Penn State in '24
- Experienced a deep resistance to joining corporate America, so I bartended for ~ 1 yr
- Realized my love for travel and mother nature could be beneficial in sailing
- Crewed on a Catalina 42 monohull FL > Bahamas (2 months)
- Crewed on Catana 50 catamaran Bahamas > Panama Canal > Pacific crossing > French Polynesia (5 months)
- Currently in Caye Caulker, Belize, but am moving back to Fort Lauderdale, FL November 20th
