Looking for a Deckhand or Stew/Deck position
I am writing to apply for the Deckhand/ Stew position onboard your yacht, bringing with me a blend of hands-on deck experience, a passion for the ocean, and a commitment to creating memorable guest experiences. Originally from South Africa, I’ve embraced both the hospitality industry and the maritime world, finding a strong connection between the two.
During my time at Cape Town Yacht Services (CTYS), where I completed a month of daywork as a Deckhand, I quickly adapted to the demands of life on deck. From maintaining the vessel’s appearance to assisting with docking and lines, I discovered a passion for the practical challenges of deck work. This experience taught me the importance of teamwork, attention to detail, and taking pride in a job well done, no matter how big or small the task.
In addition to my time on deck, I have over a year of experience in hospitality, currently working as a Cocktail Bartender and Barista. This role has trained me to anticipate guest needs, deliver high-quality service, and remain calm under pressure. I’ve refined my skills through the International Bartender Course at Shaker's Bar School and a Professional Barista Course, both of which allow me to offer a little extra touch when it comes to creating exceptional onboard experiences for guests.
I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring my unique skill set to the yachting world and to learn from experienced crew members. I am prepared to roll up my sleeves and dive into the challenges that come with being a Deckhand, always with a positive attitude and a willingness to go above and beyond.
