Looking for a Competent Crew position to join the ARC Rally
Hi there! I'm a 37-year-old dentist-periodontist originally from Málaga, looking forward to crossing the Atlantic sea in the ARC from the Canary Islands to St. Lucia. Apart from Spain I’ve lived in Ireland, Switzerland, the UK, and the US over the years. Now, I'm looking to live out a dream I've long held: crossing the Atlantic under sail with a good crew, great energy, and the spirit of adventure. I hold a Yachtmaster Offshore license (Capitán de Yate), and I sail regularly on a 36-foot sailing yacht along the Andalusian coast. I've skippered multiple passages across the Strait of Gibraltar to Ceuta and Melilla, and I’ve been a member of Fanautic Club for over five years. I’m confident handling a sailboat, but I’m eager to learn from more experienced sailors and contribute wherever needed — whether it’s standing watch, working on deck, or helping fishing. One thing I’d love to explore during an ocean passage is celestial navigation. I own a sextant and have practiced a bit, but I’d be thrilled to learn more and actually use it mid-Atlantic. Outside of sailing, I enjoy a pretty active life. I’m into motorcycles (I own four, including a 50-year-old Vespa, a Harley Davidson, and an enduro for off-roading), skiing, snowboarding, and strength training. I also enjoy good wine and, occasionally, a cigar — although I tend to skip the latter while at sea. I’m easygoing, respectful, and a believer that laughter and good conversation are just as essential onboard as solid seamanship. I'm hoping to join a boat with a friendly, adventurous crew who enjoys sailing for the joy of it. Let’s cross an ocean together — and enjoy every mile of it. Fair winds, Ramón
