Keen novice sailor with professional marine background
Hi, I’m Martin — a Canadian/UK dual citizen currently based in Europe and keen to gain offshore sailing experience. I’m new to sailing, but I work professionally on boats and want to build sea miles and progress toward RYA training.
I’ve been operating small passenger vessels in Vancouver (12–27 pax), handling lines, docking, standing watches, and managing safety procedures in a busy harbour. I hold STCW Basic Safety, STCW Survival Craft, ROC-MC, and Marine Advanced First Aid, and I’m very comfortable working on the water and living aboard.
I’m keen to learn proper seamanship under sail, pull my weight on board, and help where needed — watches, deck work, galley, cleaning, etc. I’m easy-going, reliable, and safety-minded. Looking for genuine sailing experience, good crew, and the chance to build skills.
Looking for: mile-building passages, offshore/coastal trips, and opportunities to learn from experienced sailors.
Availability: currently in Europe, flexible, and able to travel.
Thanks, and hope to connect with some great boats and people.
