Delivery Skipper / Captain — 250,000+ NM, 11 ocean crossings
Offshore delivery skipper and hands-on yacht professional: 15+ years of command experience, 250,000+ NM, 11 transatlantic passages, 7 Caribbean seasons, ~20+ Gibraltar Strait passages including about five round trips.
What I do: prepare a vessel for passage, plan routing around weather, run the watches, manage crew, and solve system failures offshore instead of just steering. Engines (Yanmar, Volvo Penta), marine electrical, LiFePO4/inverter systems, navigation electronics, watermakers, heating, rigging and rig tuning, mast work, emergency rigging, GRP/composite structural repair, steering systems.
Incident experience handled offshore: three onboard fires (electrical, gas, engine-related), two flooding situations, emergency steering work - I rebuilt a completely broken rudder blade from scratch in about a month, repaired a catamaran hull penetration at sea, and completed ocean passages with no forward drive.
Experience: Beneteau Oceanis 473 - owner/operator for ~5 years, lived aboard, full refit from keel to masthead; Dufour 44 Performance - 2 years, racing yacht, rigging and technical work. Sailing yachts, catamarans and motor yachts up to ~50 ft.
Available now for deliveries - Caribbean first, then Atlantic and Mediterranean positioning. Also open to seasonal, permanent or rotational captain/crew positions on sailing yachts and catamarans up to ~57-60 ft. Based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on the ARC route.
