Hi - I'm Laura, an experienced sailor, a qualified primary education teacher, an environmental educator, and of course, a keen traveller. Having spent large periods of my life living aboard sailing yachts, I'm now looking to return to the sea in a professional capacity. With my RYA day skipper under my belt, and 10,000+ miles at sea; including 2 Atlantic crossing crossings and a Pacific passage from French Polynesia to Fiji; I'm confident in my oceangoing capabilities, but also keen to expand my experience.
I offer skills as a very competent deck hand; I'm more than willing to do lone night watches and I'm confident in basic navigation, using paper and digital; charts, auto-helm functions and sailing in all sorts of conditions. I am also a trained educator (1st class BA Hons Primary Education with QTS), and lived aboard boats during my own schooling, so I would be happy to offer my teaching skills to any family boats who are looking for a crew member/tutor, I think I'd slot right into your boat life. Recently, my career has taken me down the route of environmental education, so if that is of interest to you, I would be more than willing to share what I know and any activities and resources I can, as well as bringing that awareness and practise to the boat (recycling queen here).
