I’m in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, ready to join a westbound transatlantic crossing as a reliable, hardworking crew member.
My goal is to sail to the Caribbean, North, Central, or South America aboard a well-prepared yacht, contributing to watches, sail handling, passage preparations, and everyday responsibilities. I bring recent offshore sailing experience, a strong commitment to teamwork, and a willingness to share reasonable expenses. I’m available immediately, flexible on destinations, and ready to meet skippers in person or depart at short notice.
I’m a 65-year-old American sailor from Texas. In September 2026, I completed a 16-day, 1,134-nautical-mile offshore passage aboard the Swan 48 Isbjørn, sailing from France to Norway via the Bay of Biscay, English Channel, and North Sea crossing. I have RYA Competent Crew and ASA sailing training, along with coastal and small-boat sailing experience, including a Catalina 14.2 that I previously owned.
I’m retired after 34 years of service in the U.S. Army, where teamwork, discipline, adaptability, and reliability were essential. I’m easygoing, a non-smoker and non-drinker, and comfortable standing watches, helping with sail handling, cooking, maintenance, and sharing everyday responsibilities aboard. I’m a native English speaker with conversational Spanish and hold a General Class amateur radio license (KG5NKR).
I’m officially registered and have paid my deposit for Elite Sailing’s 17-week Yachtmaster Fast Track program, June 21–October 15, 2027, which includes a circumnavigation of Great Britain.
I’m seeking a genuine crewing opportunity aboard a safe, well-prepared yacht rather than an expensive commercial passage. My objective is to continue developing my offshore sailing skills while making a meaningful contribution to a successful Atlantic crossing. I’m respectful of the skipper and fellow crew, willing to work, and happy to contribute to reasonable shared expenses.
