Looking for a Captain/ mate position
Good day, captains and vessel owners,
My name is Marko, and I am seeking a position as Skipper or First Mate on a sailing vessel. I am available seasonally or permanently, and I am especially interested in joining serious racing teams and undertaking offshore passages, including an Atlantic crossing.
Professional Sailing Experience
• Two seasons as Captain on monohull sailing yachts in Greece and the Cyclades.
• Two seasons as Deckhand/First Mate on professional charter catamarans.
• Private Captain on a 16 m sailing vessel (full season).
• Experience on high-performance 17 m sailing yachts as well as 24 m sailing vessels.
• Offshore experience including two crossings of the Bay of Biscay.
• Competent with all standard onboard operations: sail handling, watchkeeping, mooring, anchoring, line handling, tender driving, and general deck work.
• Fully equipped with certified offshore personal safety gear.

Additional Background
Before pursuing a full-time maritime career, I studied Food & Nutrition Science and worked in my family’s bakery business with 18 employees, gaining valuable experience in responsibility and team coordination.
I also gained:
• Professional cooking experience (3 months at MUTHO Hotel, Tenerife – Erasmus program).
• Military boot camp training in Slovenia.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with onboard tools and repair work.
Personal Attributes
I am a fit, positive, and easygoing person with a strong work ethic and excellent teamwork skills. I am confident in all aspects of sailing operations and always willing to assist wherever needed on deck or below. I am also an experienced and safe driver of motorcycles, cars, vans, and motorhomes.
