Experienced and Qualified in Power & Sail, Ocean & Coastal Worldwide. Looking to crew Atlantic crossing, other.
I’m outdoor orientated and have been sailing since a young age. As a qualified Yacht-master (plus ex 2nd Officer Merchant Navigator a lifetime ago) I have extensive and varied watch keeping experience as both Skipper and crew under sail and power, on coastal and ocean passages worldwide.
With varying degrees of experience in radio, radar, engine and electrics, boat maintenance, safety, first aid, passage preparation and logistics I have partaken in all aspects of on-board life and will turn my hand to most jobs asked of me - although cleaning the heads is not my favourite!
I’ve been told that I'm young at heart, easy going and have a sense of humour (seeing the funny side of most things) but that I also have a calm 'Safety First’ attitude, especially in stressful situations. I take orders well; understanding that there is only one Captain on board (Navy training I guess) and I enjoy cooking (no deaths reported as yet). I do not smoke.
Having always had a keen sense of adventure, I have travelled worldwide on land and water so my interests and experiences are wide and varied. And this year in particular I’m looking to crew (or perhaps be ‘back up’ skipper) on the Atlantic ARC or ARC+, but will consider any other opportunities.
If you think I may fit in with your requirements/itinerary, or that my experience would add some value to your trip, it would be great to have a chat or meet up. I’ll do my best to answer any questions so please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to hearing from you but if not then I wish you happy and safe sailing.
Regards Phil Wilks
