Looking for a permanent Deckhand or Deck/Stew position on a private motor or sail yacht.
I am a native of New England- raised on the water with most of my adult years spent boating and enjoying many activities on the ocean, i.e. sailing, water skiing, wake boarding, body surfing, paddle boarding, and kayaking. The deckhand position is my preferred starting placement, with the goal of achieving the Coast Guard rank of 1st mate. The following are a few of my qualifying skills for a deckhand position: I owned and operated a successful landscape construction business for the past ten years focusing on quality customer service and attention to detail; the past four summers I participated as crew racing sailboats with the duties of trimming sails, working the pit and foredeck, and raising/trimming the spinnaker; I studied furniture design and construction in college which led to working in a cabinetry/ furniture-making shop, and most recently, I have been hired as freelance deck crew to assist with private boat deliveries. You may ask why I am making a career change to yachting at this point in my life. My answer to that is ever since I started sailing, all I want to do is work on the water. It became a passion and a dream, and I figured there was no better time than the present to make that change. All that said, I believe my most valuable assets are my enthusiasm for learning new things, my desire to experience new adventures, and living life to its fullest!
