Reliable, safety-focused crew available for coastal or offshore sailing
Hi — I’m looking for opportunities to join a boat as Novice Crew, Competent Crew, racing crew, or in a voluntary capacity, starting Feb1, 2026 or later.
I’m a retired firefighter/EMT with a strong background in expedition work, safety, and operating in remote environments. I currently guide multi-day rafting expeditions in the Grand Canyon where teamwork, situational awareness, and sound decision-making are essential. Those skills translate well to life aboard and offshore sailing.
My sailing experience includes crewing on a 41’ Morgan Out Island during a circumnavigation, coastal sailing along Mexico from Puerto Vallarta south, and solid small-craft experience (including surf launches and boat operations in dynamic conditions). I’m comfortable standing watches, handling lines and sails, learning systems, and contributing wherever needed. I don’t pretend to know everything, but I show up prepared, attentive, and willing to work.
Schedule-wise, I’m flexible and more interested in finding a good, safe fit with the right boat and people than chasing miles for the sake of it. Coastal passages, offshore legs, deliveries, and longer trips are all of interest.
Currently based on the Nayarit Coast north of Puerto Vallarta and available on short notice. US Passport, Mexican Residency.
Happy to share more details or connect by phone or message to see if it’s a good match.
Eric
