Deckhand looking for a crew position on a sailing/ motor yacht
Hello my name is Garren
I am an energetic 28 year old with a huge passion for yachting and the ocean.
My sailing experience started by sailing in regattas and working on the local boats in Cape Town. As of November 2023 I have completed a 2 month South Atlantic crossing from Cape Town South Africa to Port Louis in Grenada. I am now seeking a position as a deckhand on a private or charter yacht. My career objective is to gain invaluable skills from Maritime professionals and work towards becoming a captain. I bring extensive experience in maintenance as I worked as a maintenance manager for a six story building where I was in charge of plumping, electricals, varnishing, carpentry, all-around general maintenance and I am comfortable and confident using any and all power tools/machinery.
I worked in the event and film industry for six years prior and this is where I learned how to think on my feet and problem solve daily. I am well traveled as I have rigged music festivals around the world.
I hold a charismatic, responsible and respectful presence that has always helped make my working environment enjoyable.
I believe I will be a great asset to your crew as I am a fast learner and incredibly passionate about the yachting industry and giving the guests an experience they will never forget.
