Looking for a Novice Crew position
Hello everyone!
My name is Anne-Gaëlle, 29 years old, and I am a biomedical engineer.
I traveled and worked for a year in Malaysia and Southeast Asia in general.
Wishing to continue traveling but in a more responsible way (slow travel) and to appreciate the value of time, I dream of crossing the Atlantic ⛵
⚓ In terms of experience, I completed a 5-day ocean crossing between Lorient (France) and Castletownbere (southwest Ireland) at the end of June 2025 with a professional skipper and another crew member (also a future skipper). I'm still a beginner when it comes to maneuvers, but thanks to this trip, I was able to hold watches, learn basic knots (chair, capstans, etc.), the basics of AIS, VHF, and safety in general. We sailed a lot upwind during this crossing. So I can say that I don't get seasick (woohoo, I was able to cook during the trip even upwind). I still have a lot to learn but I'm very motivated. I was also able to help with a few maneuvers when I was told what to do.
For the transatlantic crossing I'm looking for, I don't have a specific departure date. I'll be available from August 2025, but I can wait until February 2026 at the latest (winds favorable). I also don't have a return date, as I plan to travel for a while afterward.
I'm also flexible about my departure location (Europe); I just need to know a little in advance to plan ahead. ☺️
As for me, I've been described as very adaptable to situations/people, serious, cheerful, and resourceful!
I love cooking, laughing (good humor above all ☀️). I'm very curious and love discovering new things!
I lived in a shared apartment for several years, so I'm used to living in a "community." I love adventure: I’ve been on summer camp for several years (team spirit, mutual support, coexistence, task sharing), trekked and slept in the Malaysian jungle (among other places), etc. Adventure and discomfort don't scare me, quite the opposite!
Don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like to know more!

Gifted novice
Anne Gaelle sailed with me from her home port in South Brittany to the South coast of Ireland, an offshore crossing of over 400 miles, in sometimes difficult conditions (heavy swell, wind up to 30 knots, engine problems). It must be her Breton blood, but while she has little sailing experience, she obviously has the potential to become a super crew. Her helming skills in particular are quite impressive for a near beginner. She's kind, very easy going and a fast learner. She showed great interest in what was happening on board and always tried to help. Not only that, but she doesn't get sea sick. I was impressed by how she adapted so easily to the varied and at times difficult conditions we encountered on the passage. I'm sure that she'd be a great addition to any crew.
