Competent crewman looking to broaden experience
Hello there! I'm a competent sailor in Buffalo, New York. I currently day-sail and race regularly on Lake Erie. I'm looking to get more experience and broaden the scope of my sailing adventures. While I'll always have more to learn, I come with some good skills already, and folks have said I'm a quick study. I'm easy to get along with, and I'm happy to help you sail your boat how you want it sailed.
So far, my sailing experience has been on the Columbia River (Oregon), Fern Ridge Lake (Oregon), and Lake Erie (New York). I've logged about 500 active sailing miles so far on sloops ranging in size from mid-20s feet to 36 feet. Weather ranged from mild to wind around 25 kts (not including gusts), and short-period waves up to 6 or 7 feet. In our weekly races, I'm our route planner and navigator.
I've sailed on the ocean three separate day trips (twice on a 42-ft schooner and once on a 60-ft schooner), but as a passenger, not crew. I've also had a few multi-day trips of coastal and deep-sea fishing in my youth.
Additional training includes amateur radio licensing for UHF and VHF, and multiple first aid courses.
