Born on a farm, horse rider until 30 yrs old, I switched over to racing sailboats (multihulls) for 30 yrs with my wife & partner, Mireille. Since I left active life & "Rat race" in 2012 I sailed cruisers on 2 Atlantic discoveries, Northern classic via Caribbean, Southern "memory lane" visiting all countries we lived, in bouncing from Europe to South America & Austral Africa.
Parted with ’Big Mama’, a 46ft ketch in 2023 to jump on my latest craft, sv ”Lucky Lady”, 40ft ketch, to carry me on new challenges, discoveries & sharing with fellow sailors & crew.
I like my solo sailing, but being a social critter running in my last strides on the high waters, like to share some of the savvy I built up thru mistakes & errors & choices over the last 80 years.

  • Boat descriptionSailing yacht - Ketch built 1977 - She sailed around once & fof the last 7 years was home to Scottish family of 4 (two young kids) who took her from the Northern Atlantic to the South Pacific islands. They left her in Noumea, New Caledonia where I took over & plan to discover the Southern Pacific islands for the next 2 years, before The crossing Eastward to Chili & Patago For the next 2 years, 2027 to 2028 we shall sail the route of the seasons, moving to New Zealand for the summer, before moving back up to Tropical islands Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia for the winter & back down South via Australia Coral & Tasmanian seas. All crossings are 7 to 10 days, with island hopping & discovery of new cultures in between. Fully equipped for long runs & anchoring in remote locations, family safe she is self sufficient in many ways to ensure a long trip. She can accomodate one in style, but would rather see a bunch of 4 on board to play cards & exchange tales; This is what makes it the Big Mama Social club. She is not a racer but a dancer; she can roll & lengthen her stride to surf down waves at 14 knots ! with her 12 Tons & her 12 Meters LOA. Quite a lady of the sea.
