Bahamas , East Coast USA , Bahamas , to Europe

Hello sailing friends .

Currently - beginning May 2024 - I am on anchor near Green Turtle in the Abacos , north Bahamas. Yes I sail but it is better when I say " I am cruising ". I take it easy and stay sometimes a few days somewhere if I like the place. After the Bahamas I want explore Long Island Sound and Chesapeake Bay both at east coast USA. Then at the end of the year back to the Bahamas. Next big voyage will be in the spring of 2025. Then I am heading for Europe.

All about sv Mylady ( see tab about ) , her Skipper and his adventures ( see tab blog ) you can read on
sailmylady.wordpress.com
safe sailing and greetings from skipper Eelco

Crew :
I am looking for a female sailing companion. Any experience is not necessary , I can learn you all there is regarding sailing the sea and Mylady is good boat for it. Nearly all the work that has to be done on the boat I do myself and also this knowledge I am can pass on . The costs of living will be shared any other costs regarding the boat are for the skipper.
For sailing the USA any other residents then Canadian or US will need an B1 / B2 USA visa to sail with me while in the US. ( regarding this visa I can provide all info how to apply for it )

Skipper and boat :
The skipper is sailing as long he can remember and is at home on the ocean with his boat – a compass 34 build in 1977 - for the last 32 years. The skipper is build in 1960 and has saltwater running trough his body. My profession was being a captain on Dutch cargo ships. ( I have a licence as master without any limits )

My boat – Mylady – is a good and strong boat and made her miles. I own her since 1991 and since then live aboard.
On board there is space for one companion who has her own “ cabin “ forward.

Azores Sept 2020

5

I had my first ocean sailing on board of Mylady for 3.5 weeks sept/oct 2020. This was a great learning experience for me. We did 290 miles circumnavigating the Azores with some smooth sails and some rougher ones. There were hurricanes all around! This was a great opportunity for me to learn the ropes with the help of skipper Eelco who has been sailing his entire life and for whom sailing is a passion and a way of life. Someone with a strong character but also very patient, knowledgeable and friendly. I got to participate and share all boat activities both in the sailing and in the day to day of living on a boat. This is exactly what I was looking for, the experience of living a sailing life, and that's what I got. A very interesting ship Mylady where everything has been customised by its skipper and every little piece of it has a story. Be sure Eelco will tell you all these stories! The skipper Eelco has for sure his own way to do things, some you may or may not agree with, and this is for sure part of the experience! Overall I felt safe, I learned a lot, and had an amazing time and experience, having a taste of what it is "living the dream".
