Trawler Yacht Monara seeks crew for La Paz to Alaska
Since we left Belgium in July 2021, Monara has traveled over 12.000nm, exploring both land and sea on our route.
Monara is a 1960 trawler yacht, slow, but spacious and comfortable, with a vintage interior, but all modern amenities and navigation aids required for comfortable cruising.
Early 2023 we want to start from La Paz, visit California, cruise along the Oregon coast, explore Washington State, dive into the fjords of British Columbia and hopefully reach Alaska by August.
I'm the only permanent crew on board, my wife and children come over from time to time, but I need at least one person as a deckhand, to assist me on the watches, for mooring etc...
Our aim with Monara is to make cruising a pleasant adventure, we like diving, surfing, swimming, love good food and enjoy meeting new people.
Cost of living and berthing fees would be shared, fuel will be paid by me. We do prefer to anchor above a marina, so in general berthing fees are low.
Monara is not a sailing boat, but she will gladly show you what boat life is all about, you'll learn how to navigate and look after a boat, if you want you can participate in maintenance. We live together with our crew, and only take one or two crew members on board, to allow each to have enough space and the privacy of an own bedroom. We are not a cheap hotel on the water, we want crew members that are willing to spend some months on the boat.
Monara has recently been equipped with a Starlink satellite dish, enabling us to stay in touch with land.
Please let us know if you like our plans, and check our adventures on www.monara.be.
