September 2025 Join us in a fun, island hopping coastal cruise in the Whitsunday Islands

UPDATE: 4 Sept 2025 WE are at Airlie Beach and have the sails off the boat being serviced and will head out to the reef on Monday

If you'd like to join us then, let us know. I will update where we are as details are available.

You will participate in provisioning, maintaining, sailing and having fun!

We are looking for fun loving, easy going, environmentally aware and healthy people. We sail with an attitude of gratitude and peace and we love to meet people along the way and we always help out where we can.

Sailing skills are not required, you will be given gentle instructions and training. If you are keen, there is plenty of opportunity to learn and practise your skills.

We ask that everyone contributes towards costs of food and dinghy fuel. It works out at about $45/night

  • Boat descriptionSofia Maria is a beautiful Leopard Catamaran. She has 4 double en suite cabins, 1 of which is used by the Captain (Simon) and the other 3 are for crew/guests. Sofia Maria is a very sound, safe, proven catamaran with all the necessary safety equipment and with home comforts like hot showers and great galley with 3 burner stove, 2 fridges and a freezer. We sail sedately and comfortably at between 5 and 10 knots (depending on the wind and sea state), all sails are easy to manage and there is an autopilot to make things more relaxing.

Sofia Maria is pure light. It was a blessing to be able to sail her… at 47 foot this Leopard is beautifully and spaciously laid out, and lovingly looked after. The owner, Simon, is a very happy and eclectic welcoming soul, who is inclusive and encouraging. He is all about community living and being in the present moment. Both Simon and Minos were great instructors; patient and kind and giving lots of guidance. We shared yummy organic vegan meals (they were truly grateful for us girls to feed them!), great chats, and of course great sailing!

Big thank you to captain 1 & 2 to give me the opportunity to sail with them on Sofia Maria, a beautiful catamaran. 47 Leopard with 4 double beds & ensuites, very comfortable and spacious. Simon and Minos make you feel welcome and enjoy teaching you anything regards sailing incl. navigation, anchoring, robe knots etc. They're chilled and you can feel safe sailing with then. They're respectful and like you to cook and take over the kitchen ? I had an amazing sailing experience cruising Whitsundays,

My time spent on the Sophia Maria was lovely. Simon and Minos were great hosts, as they were friendly, welcoming, kind, and great full. The cat is a beautiful place to spend time and is extremely comfortable. I was given the opportunity to practice my sailing skills and participate in night watches which were a major highlight as sailing along watching the sunrise was a real treat. I would highly recommend taking some time out to experience the relaxed and natural pace of travel that this experience provided, as it was a refreshing change of pace. Thanks Simon and Minos xx

Sofia Maria - A Vision Quest

I met Simon and Simon at a coffee shop in Airlie Beach. We connected very quickly due to their very insightful and interesting conversation. I was invited to come and spend the week on Sofia Maria and what a life changing experience it was. I was very stressed with work and my personal life and this trip felt like a gift from the Universe. Not only were my hosts incredible men with huge hearts and deep souls but the voyage itself was like nothing else. Beautiful vegan, organic food, a superb Cat, lovely, clean and spacious. My hosts were excellent sailors who were interesting, knowledgeable and very generous with their advice. I had never sailed before but it wasn't long before I was at the helm gliding through the waters of the Whitsundays. Tying Boyland knots, reefing and furling jibs and Genoas. I was soaking it all up and walked away with a new passion for life and new passion for sailing. I am as we speak booking in my next trip on Sofia Maria. It was an experience to mark a lifetime. I made lifelong connections with beautiful men and my heart has been full ever since.
