1st Engineer - Temporary / Seasonal - Spain

Technician/Deckhand

As a technician / deckhand you are responsible for the technical part of the ship's operation. You monitor the operation of the main engine (Scania) and the generator. The maintenance schedule and the engine monitoring are in your area of responsibility. During the monitoring operations you support the rest of the crew as deckhand, in the watch system, at the lookout, during docking and casting off maneuvers and at the bridge watch.


Your additional tasks include:

operation of machine and generator
maintenance and service of engine and generator during operation (filter change, fuel control)
documentation of ongoing operation
documentation of incidental maintenance work
bridge watch and lookout
line handling
technical and deck work in general

Requirements:

-Very good knowledge of diesel engines and marine generators
Experience with Scania DI 12-41M Marine Diesel or comparable engines as well as Solé Diesel marine generators
Experience on sports boats, motor and sail boats and/or ocean-going vessels
Fundamental understanding and operation of electrical equipment in the engine room, on the bridge and on deck
Knowledge of ship operation, watch system, line work
Willingness to participate in watch system (shift operation 24h/d)
Good English language skills
Experience in deck work on smaller motor vessels/sailboats
Experience in maintenance and repair of sanitary facilities on smaller boats
Physical and mental resilience

Preferable:

-Experience on ocean-going vessels/professional machinery patent
professional training as ship's mechanic or ship's operations technical assistant
certificate of competency technical watch officer (STCW A-III/1)
certificate of competency for ship's personnel going on bridge watch (STCW A-II/4)
knowledge of data bus systems (NMEA)
Knowledge in marine electrics
valid certificate of competency Basic Safety Training according to STCW
sport boat license sea or higher
experience with ship maneuvers and linehandling
Spanish language skills
French language skills

It has a 699kW engine with cruse speed 8-10 kn and max speed 14-15 kn.
