Help get BABU home

I have some good sailing experience, but am hesitant to do an overnight passage between St. Petersberg and Carrabelle (Florida) solo. Needed: a person with some training (ASA101 or more?) and a little experience (sailboat >20ft would be good) to help stand watch on a 30 hour trip.

Unfortunately, my crewmember timed out (weather was unfavorable) so I am now in search mode again .

My good boat BABU is a Hunter 42 CC Passage, built in 1993, when sailboat makers were not skimping. She can handle just about anything. I am very confident in her strength. She is equipped with all the safety, navigation and comms gear, because I am a technical type, and I believe sailing with inadequacies in these is risky.

I'm in St. Pete as she was just attended to by a great sailboat rigger company (Hold Fast Rigging), who upgraded the radar to the latest Garmin model, added an antenna, tuned the rig, fixed the dinghy blocks, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Given the weather, it's favorable to leave early AM Wednesday with an early morning Thursday arrival in sweet Carrabelle.

There will be no cost to you whatsoever, unless you need certain provisions I don't carry (but tell me what you would like, please, and I'll try to get it stocked). Little Debbie snack cakes perhaps? Not my thing, but I won't discriminate :) Mostly vegetarian and some fish here. No smoking (although one crewmember had a pipe which he respectfully kept downwind). Not a time to imbibe in alcoholic beverage, but perhaps after the arrival as you wish.

You can expect, from me, a respectful and attentive host. I will teach what I can, and anticipate learning from your experience, too. I wish to make decisions together, and very much insist on pre-planning/briefing everything we do, whether it's unfurling the headsail, or deciding to anchor out. In a pinch, it is advantageous if we both lean upon our talents and exercise good judgment and action as needed - independent of specific direction. Now, I've only been in a pinch a few times, and these were not a big crisis, yet each time we both (my crewmember and I) were able to work together smartly without a lot of direction.

Please contact me as soon as you are able to discuss further. Happy to do a video call (Viber, Google, other?) to introduce and discuss.

Thank you!
