Boat descriptionThe Rival 32 is a British-designed and built classic, heavy displacement, solid fibreglass offshore cruising yacht, with a semi-fin keel and skeg-hung rudder. They have a well-deserved reputation as ocean voyagers and are generally sea-kindly and safe. They have a deep, protective, self-draining cockpit and a narrow companionway protected by a bridge deck. Below deck, Rival 32s have headroom but accommodation is not generous, although it is comfortable for three people at sea. Apart from the companionway, there are two overhead hatches and two Vetus dorade vents. An old boat, built in 1976, acquired three months ago, my boat has undergone a small re-fit with new sprayhood and dodgers, refurbished stackpack and new lazy jacks and improved running rigging. She underwent survey in March 2023 and no major issues were raised. There is a modest sail wardrobe, with furling genoa in OK condition (on Furlex), a good, fully battened mainsail, a trysail and a storm jib rigged on a movable inner forestay. 20hp Volvo Penta engine was serviced in 2022 and inspected again in 2023. There are three new 100 AmpH deep cell batteries, charged from the engine alternator. Her electronics are modest and quite old, including a Garmin Echomap 70s Chart plotter, a Furuno GPS, depthfinder, log, DSC-VHF, AIS (receiver only). There is a serviced liferaft and a small Avon dinghy. New EPIRB.
