Pacific Crossing: PHILIPPINES and TAIWAN
I’m looking for an additional crew to sail across the Philippines and/or Taiwan. Each leg will take approximately 1 month and meeting point is Cebu in July.
The desired profile is someone with a previous ocean experience, between 30 and 60 years old, serious, careful, non-smoker and clean. The person needs to be okay to live without alcohol as there is no drinking while under sail. The crew needs to be financially independent as he or she is asked to pay a contribution of 50 euros/day to help covering expenses towards food, fuel, vessel operation and vessel maintenance.
I put a lot of effort into keeping the yacht in perfect condition and having all the systems working and serviced according to the specifications. Despite having pushed SV Spectrum to the limits and sailed to some of the most remote places on earth (Antarctica in 2023), safety remains a top priority. A complete safety briefing as well as a man-over-board drill during which everyone learns how to handle a MOB is always part of the journey. The yacht is fun and fast for its size and has been geared up with more technical features like radar, running backstays, storm jib and trysail. We will train and use them according to the weather conditions and interests of the crew.
Cheers,
Gilles
Competent and professional captain
I completed 1,200 nautical miles with Gilles aboard Spectrum from Nuku Hiva to Christmas Island, Kiribati. He is very experienced and always thinking of safety first. I enjoyed the experience and passage. Thank you.
