South West Pacific Discovery
Looking for one crew to cruise down Queensland coast thence across to Vanuatu north to Solomons thence back to Cairns in 2025. I have changed my programme, I am planning to do several shorter trips of maybe a month or so each exploring the Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea islands of Australia. After that I will know who is appropriate for a longer voyage. it is difficult to get compatible crew that are prepared for a long voyage at short notice so, if you are planning on coming to Australia in July - November, send me a message..
The boat, a Leopard 39 cruising catamaran, 12 years old. “Owners Version” so three double berths, two on the port side for crew. The galley is up (not in a hull), very roomy back deck and saloon.
Powered by sails and spinnaker, backed up by 2 of 30 hp Yanmar sail drives. Solar panels provide power with backup generator for water-maker, 780 lit of fresh water heated from the generator or engines so very comfortable.
Swim / snorkel / dive love is essential in the Coral Sea
Prefer female crew to join another, expect your own cabin/berth, limited personal belongings storage. Need to be curious with sense of humour and ability to bring interests such as photography, playing an instrument, story writing & wants to learn more about sailing .
All round skills + first aid, recreational boat and radio license helpful.
Some sailing experience helpful but ability to learn quickly, keep watches, put up with wetness occasionally as well as all other chores like cooking, cleaning etc. without being seasick. Unusual dietary requirements are not compatible.
Costs of fuel and food shared on equal per head basis, i.e. three on board, 1/3rd each.
