Position Overview:
Pelican Adventures is seeking experienced and skilled Captains to join our team and lead our fleet of catamarans ranging from 45 to 70 feet in length. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience navigating various types of vessels and waters, with the ability to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers while delivering exceptional guest experiences. Additionally, proficiency in captaining our 115-foot schooner is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate and navigate catamarans and, if applicable, the schooner, in various weather and sea conditions.
Lead and supervise crew members, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and providing training as needed.
Maintain the cleanliness, functionality, and appearance of the vessels, conducting regular inspections and overseeing maintenance activities.
Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, providing information about the cruise, destination, and onboard amenities.
Collaborate with Pelican Adventures management team to plan and execute cruise itineraries, ensuring optimal guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, company policies, and industry standards at all times.
Handle emergency situations calmly and effectively, prioritizing the safety and well-being of passengers and crew.
Demonstrate strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to make sound decisions in challenging situations.
Qualifications:
Valid Captain's license (minimum USCG Master 50/100-ton license, higher license preferred).
Proven experience as a Captain on catamarans and/or sailing vessels, preferably in a commercial setting.
Proficiency in maneuvering vessels of various sizes, including catamarans ranging from 45 to 70 feet.
Excellent leadership abilities, communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer service orientation and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing circumstances.
Knowledge of maritime regulations, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
