Delivery Crew - Temporary / Seasonal - Min exp 4 years - $Flights and food paid (could negotiate more based on experience) - United States

We are Tyler and Julia, you can check out our YouTube channel to learn more about us: Sailing Ramona. We are looking for someone available and interested in crossing the Pacific from Hawaii to Japan with us very soon, this April-May-June.

Our boat is an Ingrid 38, very seaworthy -and just went through a full refit. Almost everything but the hull is new. Would be happy to talk on the phone and discuss details with anyone interested.

We are posting this suddenly as we have recently completed the passage from California to Hawaii and our next scheduled crew member will no longer be able to join for the second leg to Japan.

  • Boat descriptionThe fiberglass hull and aluminum masts are from 1980 but all the interior systems (seacocks, tanks, Yanmar diesel, electrical and interior) are all new from 2008 and had almost never been used since install, although the yanmar was regularly maintained. We have 2 pilot berths and 1 sofa equiped with leecloths and USB chargers. We also have a v-berth that's quite big but generally used as food storage on passage. This year the boat we completed a refit and replacement of the following items: - new standing and running rigging - new cast bronze chainplates - new windless (tigress) - new monitor windvane - new pelagic autopilot - new dodger - sails (Brand new headsail, staysail, main and mizzen from North Sail +1 used asym .75oz Spinnaker and full set of spare previously used sails). - New harken IV Ocean furler - 3.5" x 18ft whisker pole - New Techautics Cool Blue holding plate and compressor We have just sailed her 2400 miles from California to Hawaii this past month (March 20th to April 11th 2024) and she handled rough weather very well. My wife and I did the refit ourselves and installed all the systems mentioned above, so we know every inch of the boat and all systems intimately. Our passage to Hawaii took 22 days, about 15 of which were 25knts or greater. The boat performed well and we averaged 150 miles per day during those days, with our best day at 170 miles. After the passage to Hawaii, I decided another reef in the main would be useful for more extreme situations, so I had the North Sails loft in Hawaii add one more reef (now 3 in total) to the main sail. For instruments, we mainly use Navionics on our phones or iPad, but we have a Garmin in-reach with maps installed as well as a MFD12 Furuno chart plotter / AIS / radar unit if needed. No electronic wind or depth instruments. For steering we rely mostly on the monitor wind vane, which has proved it worth as our fourth crew member on the passage to Hawaii, but also the Pelagic auto pilot was second and very robust backup, which we tested in 10 ft seas for 3 days in a row, of which it didn't skip a beat. The boat has 70 gallons of diesel (20 in jugs on dec) and 95 gallons of water (35 on deck) . On the passage to Hawaii we averaged .47 gallons of fuel per hour, which brings our total fuel range to about 140 hours, or just over 700 miles of range. The boat is also equipped with a Survivor 40E water maker. After 22 days at sea, we still had half of our first 25 gal tank remaining and all other tanks were full. Safety gear includes jacklines and cockpit tether, life sling, danbouy, two liferafts (one is 1 year old and the other is expired), hard dingy with all sailing equipment mounted inside, and a well equipped ditch bag. Including flares, food, water, two epirbs, radar reflector, first aid kid, medicine, antibiotics, compressed air horn and manual air horn. Communications with the outside world is possible through starlink, although for the passages we have an iridium and Garmin in-reach.
